Decided to try them after driving by several times. Not sure about going back. We got seated pretty quickly and got menus, chips and salsa. The waiter finally came over and asked what we wanted to drink and rushed off. When he came back he put them on the table and left, no straws, no asking if we had questions. Came back to take our order, not writing anything down and walked away after giving it to him. Came back about a minute later asking me to confirm I wanted steak or chicken. He seemed like he was in a hurry all the time. Guess he was busy thinking about the next classy neck tattoo he wanted. Never came back to check on us, offer drink refills or anything till he dropped off the bill. Never said thank you for coming in or asked how things were. They also charge for refills of chips and salsa, which I have never seen before anywhere. The food was just ok and lacked any real flavor. Also for the price it wasn't that great. Maybe that is why everything has queso on it. Maybe it was just an off night. Not sure we will go...
Read moreMy husband and I gave this place a try recently. It was okay, at best. We started with the cheese dip, it tasted good, but it was very thin and runny, making it a mess to eat. I ordered the Enchiladas Verde, and found them to be pretty lackluster. The sauce tasted like it was from a can, and the chicken was very dry, and had very little flavor. The rice was very bland. The guacamole was good though, and seem to be freshly prepared. My husband had the Chili Colorado, he described the flavor as interesting. I found the bite I tried to be very tangy and salty. We had Sopapillas for dessert and they were very doughy, not soft and fluffy. They did taste alright though. The service was good. I'm not sure we'll be visiting again, because it wasn't really...
Read moreSince moving to the Midwest, we've struggled to find good, authentic Mexican food. While traveling back to Iowa, we took a small detour off the I-80 in search of a place for lunch. The area is sparsely populated, and weren't certain we'd find a place to eat, but pleasantly surprised to find Luna Azul. The staff were friendly and attentive, the restaurant new and clean. Beautiful artwork. Ordered a side of guacamole for our chips, and hubby said it is the best he's ever had (and being SoCal transplants, hes had plenty of guacamolein his day)! Our entrées were wonderful; served hot, seasoned well. Hubby said he'd consider relocating to this area just to enjoy thus wonderful, authentic...
