Sweetest Things Tea Room — Restaurant in Athens

Do not go here if you are in a hurry. We all ordered a lunch special, a "dip" plate. We finally received our order after about an hour when we finally told them we were going to leave if they couldn't bring our food. Miraculously, our food was ready...except for the cornbread. The reason it was not available was because "there was a large order of about 15 before we took your order, so we have to cook more." Since our order had been taken about an hour earlier, I don't understand why it was not ready. $22 for two lunch specials and a tea each. No waitress service except when you flagged someone down. Love that me and a friend can go and have great food. They have cute little booths where you have a lot of privacy. They have great hot tea. And great deserts. I don’t get home cooking very often and this food is lovely. It’s better than typical southern cooking. They add there own signature to the food. The champagne chicken is my favorite and the quiche. I had the Garden Salad for lunch. I wanted the roast beef but she ran out of it before noon. So I say if you really would like something special on the menu, call and order early!!

I enjoyed the salad. The only thing that could have been better is if the chicken was one that they actually cooked.
