If you’re in Athens, TX, and haven’t been to Tia Juanita’s Fish Camp, you’re missing out on one of the best dining experiences in town. This spot has it all—fantastic food, a lively atmosphere, and drinks that will have you coming back for more. First off, let’s talk about the tacos. Whether you go for the trio tacos or just pick a favorite, you can’t go wrong. The flavors are fresh, bold, and downright addictive. Every bite is packed with the perfect balance of seasoning, toppings, and fresh ingredients. Then, there are the margaritas. The Bayou Margarita and The Painkiller are absolute must-tries. The Bayou Margarita has that smooth, citrusy punch you want in a top-tier margarita, while The Painkiller brings a tropical, creamy twist that lives up to its name—it truly takes all your worries away.

This is possibly the worst food I've ever been served. The fried green tomatoes were dry and had no flavor and should never be made with cornmeal alone. The "grilled" oysters were overcooked and dry. The bread was burned. The cokes had so much soda and no syrup. The children's menu is poor at best. Margaritas had so little alcohol you can only taste the mix. The only thing that wasn't bad was the beer and it was in a bottle. We did have a big group but our food was brought out so far apart some were done eating before others had even been served. Definitely not worth the hype for me.

Athens-Cedar Creek Lake area needed a place like this for SOOO long! We had oysters on the half shell that were fresh and delicious along with 4 pounds of crawfish that actually outshine Wade’s Place! Hailey, Sheila and so many others were so nice and attentive. The food, atmosphere and people were absolutely wonderful!! It was so refreshing to eat somewhere clean and fun, where everyone working was smiling and so nice. We will definitely be back especially that they are open 7 days.

My first 5 visits were all incredible. The next four were fair, poor, poor and bad. We asked for our salads and appetizers to come out first followed by our enrtees shortly. The food took FOREVER and when it arrived, the salads, appetizers and entree all arrived at the same time (approximately 25 minutes from when our server took our order). We asked her 3 times to check on our food and she told us that the kitchen was just backed up. This was at 7:30 pm on a Wednesday night. My baked potato came out half way through my meal and was cold enough that the butter was barely melted and the cheese was not at all! My $33 dollar steak was barely chewable (I showed our server Christina where I had to spit out half of what I ate onto my appetizer plate. There was no attempt at service recovery other than, "sorry about that!". My wife's water was never refilled and was empty for more than half of our meal. I usually love their food but have had issues on the last three visits. The three couples that we usually dine with have refused to return or...

We tried this place for the first time tonight. I’ll start by saying they haven’t been open very long, but to keep an honest review, our service was incredibly slow. We sat for SO long just waiting to order that several tables around us (who were sat a solid 30 mins after us) ordered the last of the crawfish we intended to order had we not had to wait so long to get service, so we missed out on trying that and we ordered an alcoholic drink that we never got. However, I do think that the service was strictly a server issue, because other tables around us with different servers had people coming and going the whole time. After the manager came by, he did make it right so that was a plus.

As for the food, what we ended up ordering was fantastic! The queso was delicious, and we especially loved the Cajun style butter that came with a few of our appetizers and meals. The prices matched both the quality and quantity of each meal and the atmosphere was fun!

We plan to wait a few more weeks for it to die down some and try...

One of the best new places we've been to in quite some time! You walk in & your eyes are drawn to all the different signs to read & nostalgia on the wall & it continues right on in when you're seated! What a lively place this is, but you need to come before 5-5:30 or you're going to be waiting. The menu is plentiful & the food was delicious! My only criticism on the food was in having to pay for chips & salsa as an appetizer. My strawberry margarita on the rocks was big, beautiful & very tasty! Our waiter was spot on & the manager even came around to check on us & she was delightful to talk with. They had live music playing from a couple by the name of Wheel House...they were wonderful! I got goosebumps on some of their songs!! It was just a bit too loud & we couldn't hear ourselves talk, but again, the music really was so nice to hear! We could really use a Tia Juanitas Fish Camp in...
