Ive been going to Georigio's since the early 80's and I have VERY fond memoried attached to it. My grandparents took us there for either breakfast, lunch and dinner several times a week . Also as a child, I loved seeing Peggy's ( or Pat I cant 100% remember what name she went by) smiling, welcoming demeanor was ALWAYS had a kind word for you. With that being said , I hadn't actually eaten there in a good 12 years. I lived out of state for many years, and now I live in Portland. I was in Auburn on 7/13/24 and I immediately thought " Ohhh, I want a Georgio's Italian".Anyhoo.. Im sure Im giving too much back story BUT I just wanted to explain why I was so disappointed with the food my friend and I ordered. I got a large ham Italian and he got a large BLT. The size of the sandwiches were legit the size of a small at any other place I get sandwiches from. The amount of ingredients on both sammies were both lacking in quantity and freshness. My friend asked if mayo automatically came with mayo and he was told yes. Well, there was no mayo on it, and when he went up to ask for a side of mayo, the young quickly tossed 2 mayo packets that were dark yellow and looked & smelled nothing like mayo. I honestly really feel crappy about giving them a bad review because Georgio's definitely holds a special place in my heart. But $26.50 for 2 cans of Dr. Pepper ( not bottles) 1 individual size bag of Salt and Vinegar Lays chips and the 2 sandwichs I described - left feeling irritated and disappointed. I will say that although I didnt purchase any, the donuts and pastries still looked on point and their breakfast fare might still...
Read moreGeorgio’s Pizza & Donut Shop. Last night we decided to get takeout from Georgio‘s Pizza and Donut Shop. We have lived in Auburn for over 10 years and can probably count the number of times we’ve been there on one hand. We’ve always enjoyed the food but it’s just not one of the 1st places that we would think of if we wanted to grab something to eat. WELL THAT HAS CHANGED!
I went to pick up our pizza, satellite sandwiches, fries and due to my sweet tooth, 3 of their homemade whoopie pies. As I was leaving I ended up dropping my whoopie pies on the ground. As I walked to my car bumming that I was not going to get my sugar fix, I heard someone yelling behind me. The gentleman who was behind the counter had another three pack of whoopie pies that he was bringing to me saying he saw me drop the other ones.
I was so grateful not just because I was going to get my sugar fix, but the fact that he ran 3 more out to me when he could’ve just turned his head. That small gesture of kindness has made an impression on me and I hope it does for you too! That is the kind of business and people I want to give my money to!
So next time your wondering where you should go for take out, check out Georgio’s Pizza & Donut Shop. They have one of those menus that everyone in the family can find something they like as well as some amazing...
Read moreGeogio's UFO is easily one of the best sandwiches in Maine. What they did tonight though will also stay with me. I raised over 1100 dollars to feed first responders to the Lewiston shooting. I came up today from Portland to finally bring food to CMMC, and also hand food out to the candlelight vigil in Kennedy Park. Georgios was alway my planned first stop because I always stop whenever I'm within 15 mins of the L/A because the sandwiches are just that good! Tonight I spoke with Margaret there and told her my intentions, in addition to the 10 UFOS I ordered she threw another 6 in on top! This kind of the support in the community is what helped me to deliver roughly $1500 in food to first responders at MMC, CMMC, and also hand food out to those who attended the candle light vigil at Kennedy Park.
Thank you again Margaret! Want to also mention when I dropped off the UFOS many of the nurse's asked "what are they?" And I heard many nurse's respond "I don't know but their so good!!!" Glad I could help more in the area learn more about one of the most delicious sandwiches ever and your generosity is just as good as...
