Melt Auburn — Restaurant in Auburn

We visited Melt during their opening week, so as with any new establishment, there's always a learning curve. The staff was friendly, but still learning the ropes.

The mac and cheese egg rolls we the star of the show. Absolutely delicious, fresh, crispy, cheesy, amazing. I'd happily return just for those. Unfortunately, that's where the highlights mostly ended.

Appetizers were entered incorrectly. We ordered the goat cheese, strawberry, and walnut appetizer but it didn't get placed with our initial order.

The manager explained that the item hadn't been integrated in the POS system yet, and asked if we still wanted it. She raved about it so we agreed to try it even though it would arrive after the main courses.

In retrospect, we should have skipped it. It was okay but it definitely wasn't as good as it was made it out to be, and not really worth the wait.

The main courses also fell short. The fried chicken sandwich had a visibly un-crispy, almost rubbery crust (reheated?).

The burger, ordered medium-rare, came out well-done and with fries, instead of the tomato cucumber salad we ordered as a side. At this point, we just wanted to eat and didn't want to deal with further delays.

The beer battered fries were good though, I'll give them that!

Overall, an underwhelming experience, especially for the price point. I'm happy to pay for a quality meal, but that wasn't the case here.

I think there's definitely potential, and I'd like to give them another shot in a few months after they've had a chance to iron out the kinks. But if you do decide to visit, I'd recommend managing...

Visited Melt in Auburn with a friend this past Saturday in hopes to indulge in the captivating food and drinks displayed on their Instagram account however, we, unfortunately, were only able to try a few drinks given that after placing my order for their Rock-A-Doodle sandwich with NO BACON (pork allergy), I was served the sandwich with huge slices of thick-cut bacon. Obviously, I asked the kindhearted waitress if the sandwich could be taken back to the kitchen and remade—again, I really had been wanting to try the sandwich—to which she complied however, after bringing the sandwich back, I immediately knew that I would be sending it back for the kitchen to KEEP given that instead of remaking the sandwich completely, they, instead, took MOST of the bacon off (leaving several little pieces on it) and sent it back out. Again, due to a pork allergy, I’m unable to consume bacon, so this could’ve ended FATALY had I not checked the sandwich both times. The waitress, after speaking with her boss who I did not see throughout this entire incident, apologized on her boss’s behalf which I found to be completely unprofessional and stated that they could remake the sandwich for a third time however, due to a flight that I had to to catch from Atlanta, I didn’t have the time to wait. I've been excited about this place since I saw them working on it and have been wanting to come here since it opened it. Finally came yesterday and I have to say I was disappointed. It was ok, but nothing to keep me coming back. We were sat at the table and waited several minutes to even be acknowledged by anyone there. I was starting to think we were supposed to go to the bar to order our own food because it was taking that long for anyone to come to the table or even acknowledge us.

We got the Reuben and didn't taste the 1000 Island at all, so we asked for a side of it. That helped the flavor of the sandwich. The fries were barely warm and clearly not fresh. By the end of my sandwich they were cold and I didn't even finish them. I always love my fries, so its rare for me to leave any. They are not appealing to me from the first bite. The Mac and Cheese was good, but also not really hot, just kind of warm. There were tons of onions in them... Not my favorite.
