Calvin’s Roasted Fish And Salads — Restaurant in Augusta

I hadn’t been to this new location for this restaurant. I had Calvin’s food before when his restaurant was in a hotel on the other end of Broad Street. The food was pretty good then and it’s pretty good now!!!

My cousin had dined here recently and raved about everything, so I had to come by and check out the new location. I didn’t know what to expect since it had been so long since I had any of Calvin’s food.

From the time I entered the restaurant to the time I departed I felt appreciated as a customer and most importantly a human being!!!! You can’t get no better than that with what’s all going on in the world today!!

The food menu is pretty extensive here. He has things like chicken, oxtails, meatloaf, liver and onions, Salisbury steak, and so much more. It was so hard to choose what I wanted to eat. It was so many things I wanted to taste.

I ordered sweet tea first, and I must say if you don’t like your tea super sweet you wouldn’t like his!!! I call it diabetic tea and I loved every bit of it!!!

Calvin himself comes out and waits on each customer. I thought that was such a personal touch. That shows that he really stands behind everything that he puts his name on!!!

I chose to order my favorite, Salisbury steak with rice and gravy, black-eyed peas, and cabbage. Everything thing was delicious!!! My mother ordered her favorite, liver and onions, rice and gravy, black-eyed peas, and cabbage. She loved everything on her plate as well.

It took a little time for my mother’s food to come out, so to appease us Calvin brought us out two fried chicken wings. That was some pretty good fried chicken!!!! That’s exactly what I’m going to order when I dine here the next time. It had the right amount of flavor and was fried to perfection!!! That chicken made my mother forget she was waiting for her food.

It didn’t take too long after we ate the chicken that her food arrived. Everything was on point, I can see why he has had so much success in the food industry for so long!! He make sure that his customers are happy at all costs!!!

My mother couldn’t finish her food and he offered her more food, which he gave her. He said he didn’t want her to go home hungry and had spent good money!!! Where else would a restaurant owner do this?!? Most likely NOWHERE!!!

Calvin’s customer service is off the scale and his food is just as good!!! I’m adding this place to my go to places to eat!!! I have so many things to try on his menu!!! You don’t come by too many places like...

I felt as if we walked into families home. The young lady that took our order made us feel like she truly cared. The man that cooked this evening made sure our order was hot and good. The place was clean and the ppl are very respectful. Don't let the area distract you from going in and trying this restaurant especially if you are not ftom the area. I had fried chicken, Mac & cheese, cabbage, corn bread and potatoe salad, This is real southern homade chicken. This chicken had that crunch and brust of juice you like to get like Big mama cooking at the house. it runs rings around Maryland's sorry, but its true. I enjoyef everything but the potstoe salad it had good flavor. it would of been the best potatoe salad, but potatoes was under cook. That was very disapointing because I could tell from the taste his salad had been season and mix well. Tea was good corn bread goooood. My husband meat loaf blackeyes peas & rice, Mac & cheese , cabbage dinner was outstanding, my bringsr"s fried brim dinner great her colid greens really good I taste hers She like the potatoes salad but potatoes need cooking more. We all got cake, key lime and chocolate cake, but we are so full we can not eat another bite. Thanks to Calvin's for serving up food that's makes you feel like they got their money worth . this food puts a smile on the face and bring joy to your belly. Good dinner night!! 4 stars because they where out of sweet potatoe after I put my order in and mouth was ready for it and potatoes salad error. But I will go back againe. Simple adjustments needed. So while I was at the VA today, one of the vets was walking around and handing out Menus for this place. After my appointment I decided to give them a try. The owner was there and came out to talk to us and was very friendly. The rest of the staff was pleasant and I received my meal and I was on my way. I ordered the fish and shrimp dinner plate. I received two fried talipa fillets and about 10 fried shrimp. The food was pretty good. I was surprised by the talipa as I was expecting catfish. While the food was tasty it was a little bland. I think adding a little something to the batter before frying everything would of gone a long way. Also there was no dipping sauce for the shrimp or fish. That would of helped.
