Just finished my meal. I’ll start off with the positives before going into the negatives.

The atmosphere and the layout is nice. Good vibes.

The restaurant was about 1/3 to 1/2 full while me and my family were there.

Upon arriving, we were greeted by a welcoming young lady working the front and seated quickly.

Our waiter was a young man that started off with a good initial greeting. He asked what we wanted for drinks. I ordered a sweet tea, wife a coffee, and daughter an orange juice. We also ordered two chicken and waffles and I had the signature half fried with the Nashville Hot and mashed potatoes. All was good so far.

About ten minutes later the waiter came out with my sweet tea. Waiting another ten minutes and my family members not yet having received their drinks, I turned around to flag down the waiter. When I saw him, he was obviously more concerned with playing around and joking with his coworkers than providing the drinks my family members ordered. I got his attention, and asked him where my wife’s coffee and daughter’s orange juice were. He said he would go check at the bar like area for them. At this point he now had my interest and instead of just enjoying the conversation with my family, I tracked him visually going to the bar like area. I watched him pouring the coffee from their machine which got me a bit angry if I’m being honest. You just told me you would go see if they were ready, yet all you had to do was go and get it ready hmmm…….

The food comes out. Remember I had the “signature” chicken. Immediately, I could tell there was entirely way too much Nashville Hot sauce making presentation lackluster. Upon first taste, the sauce tasted simply like Sweet Pete’s with an add of pepper. To make it worse, this sauce and the amount should have overpowered the taste of the chicken but it didn’t. I’m fairly certain by the taste of the meat that the chicken was not prepped correctly after being unthawed. For instance, was it properly drained of the liquid resulting from being unthawed and then soaked and drained once more. The sauce and the chicken do not complement each other and to be honest I would put a piece of spicy Popeyes higher rated.

So, with the drinks not coming out until I had to flag the waiter who was busy with shenanigans, my food being not good, one would think that would be it right. Nope.

The waiter brought our check out and I placed my card as well as putting the check just off the table slightly to let him know it was ready. He comes back and picks it up saying nothing. Not too big of a deal. But when he finished running my card he just dropped the check off without saying anything and initially forgetting the pen to close it out. He did get one, but even placing that on the table, not a word.

I tip very well when I receive good customer service. And, I still leave at least 5% even if it’s bad. Today I left 10% on account of the young man’s perceived age. I’m not sure if I will be spending my money here again. But, if I do, I hope that things are improved or I will not return permanently.

I didn’t want to have to use the time I have to make this post, but a problem is not a problem unless it is brought up.

Update: The F&H leadership team immediately engaged me following this review and not only wanted my feedback, but also promised that they would take action on the feedback provided. Even though I said it was not necessary, they also compensated me for my portion of the meal that was not to my liking. This is unique and how customer relations should be handled. I would give 5 stars if there was a category available for this type. I will be coming back as I now know this group does really care about...

My family and I visited this restaurant today 10/22/22. There were four of us. This was our first visit here. We had reservations and we were seated in a timely manner. We placed our orders and waited about 20 minutes for our food. The restaurant was full so we thought sure the food would be great! Our food arrived and we looked at each other thinking ‘this isn’t correct.’ The portion sizes for the price just didn’t seem to correspond. Two of us ordered shrimp and grits. One was ordered without all the fixings (peppers, onion, tomato base etc). The other order was with all the fixings. The other two ordered chicken and waffles. The temperature of our food was cool to lukewarm. One of my family members sent her food back because it was just too cool to eat. The other said she didn’t want to have to wait long to get her food back, so she ate it cool. She said the syrup was hot so that would make up for the cool waffles. The chicken was the hottest and most flavorful item. My grits were lukewarm but edible. The shrimp were lukewarm as well. I’m used to ordering grits and having to blow on them to cool them down some. But my meal came out ready to eat. In all honesty it could’ve been reheated to make it more enjoyable. My other family member said there was no flavor in his shrimp and grits, even with all the fixings. The server was kind and attentive, the staff seemed nice but the food was just NOT good. The presentation wasn’t there, the portion sizes for the price is a joke, the temperature was just plain ridiculous! The portion size we received were more like a kids portion size, which is why we were confused when we received our meals. I’m from out of town and this restaurant must be a staple in the neighborhood and no one speaks up, but there’s a lot of improvement that...

So when I entered this place I was expecting a quick fast food like restaurant however it was quite different, In a good way. I was a little nervous because it is a bit pricey but I don't mind spending the money if I get my money's work and this place does deliver. So I try to keep it simple when I try out a new restaurant. I ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and fries which was 10 bucks that's not too bad but the slaw looked very interesting so I ordered that as well and I ended up paying about $14 for my meal. My food came in a cute little brown bag with handles. I went to my car. I started eating the fries, nice presentation of the fries. But these French fries were amazing so light so flavourful so crispy I thoroughly enjoyed them. Usually I get tired of the fries But these were so good. When I opened the box for my chicken sandwich and let me say that everything was in recyclable containers, which was cool. I noticed that my sandwich did not have any pickles on it. So I ran back inside to get my pickles because you really need that experience for this hot chicken sandwich. The sandwich was amazing. The chicken, you can tell was well marinated, good flavor. The crisp on this chicken was incredible you did not get a lot of breading and chewyness....only crunch and tender chicken and crunch. The heat from the spices and hot sauce was not overpowering at all. It was not the first thing you taste when you bit into this chicken sandwich you got the heat in the back, later on which was pretty hot but not overwhelming... perfect combination. I can't wait to try some other items on the menu. And yes the staff was professional...I will say as a con. The pickle are way to thin and watery for this awesome sandwich. It needs a...

We were excited to try this restaurant as it had a fun menu, and stopped in for brunch on Sunday. It was very busy, and the service was slow. I had ordered the Hello Honey latte and my date had black coffee. It took a half hour to receive the latte - I thought it was delicious and overlooked the wait as it was busy and we weren’t in a hurry. Sadly, when my date asked for a refill on his coffee we learned that they ran out of coffee. The waitress did her best to piece together another cup by assembling the dregs from random carafes. The waitress even mentioned it was odd that as a ‘brunch place’ they had run out of coffee. We ordered the Hen Egg Roll as an appetizer. I thought it was a little dry, but not bad. For my main, I had the Bananas Foster French Toast, which was delicious. I also ordered a side of bacon, which was forgotten and had to be requested. For his main, my date ordered the Quarter Dark Fried Chicken, with Collards, Mashed Potatoes, and a Cheddar Biscuit on the side. He was very excited to sample some classic southern fare after reviewing the menu. The collards were ok — overall they had a bit of kick to them, but were good, as was the biscuit. The batter on the chicken had good flavor, but we unfortunately found that the chicken was undercooked. When discussing with the waitress she said they would deliver new chicken in 5 minutes. We were skeptical, having already waited over an hour for our food and we were also sure we didn’t want ‘5 minute chicken’ after having been served undercooked chicken to start with. When the second round of chicken came out it was cooked completely. Obviously, this put a damper on our experience and I cannot recommend this restaurant under current management.

Great creative menu full of traditional southern cooking with a twist. Your typical in it's a-typicality (new word?). Imani gave me a recommendation for salmon and grits which hit the spot perfect and my girlfriend got the fried chicken biscuit. Be warned, it wasn't a biscuit you eat with your hands. It was an open faced, spin on your traditional biscuit but if you've never heard of hot hollandaise sauce... well your life just got slightly better. Overall good atmosphere, packed local spot, perfect for Sunday morning brunch (if you can get in!) I just got done with breakfast here (a year after the above review, and 5 or 6 visits later, I thought this place was worth making a review... ... ... looks like I beat myself to it...) and the hot hollandaise is STILL something to write home about. I had the pleasure of finally meeting the pastry chef this morning before she left for the day. S.H.E! is amazing! Do yourself a favor and get a dessert for the table to split before leaving. You won't regret it. This is not a place where you come to get the #13 (I have a lot of those places, they are great, this isn't that place). This is where you spend a little extra to really enjoy your food brought to you by a small caring group of people that get excited about people getting excited around a table. For that I say thanks
