Local gem! Two Maine Guys hit the food scene in Augusta a couple years ago and have been crushing it ever since. Hearty portions, decent prices, daily specials and seasonal goodies.
On my last trip I was in the mood for thanksgiving leftovers and Two Maine Guys did not disappoint. They had a thanksgiving wrap with all the trimmings and a side of gravy to dunk. I swear it weighed more than I did! Hearty and filling it was Thanksgiving in a tortilla!
The service there is always friendly and fast. Usually one of the owners is around greeting customers. Place your order at the counter and it comes up fast and with a smile. They take cash and card and have a rewards promo too for frequent customers.
The ambiance is casual and unassuming. Clean tables and floors, handicap accessible restrooms. They offer a changing selection of beers and canned ciders. They also have a cooler grab n go sodas, waters, and other drinks. They are known for their pulled pork, poutine, coleslaw and Mac n cheese. During a conversation with the cashier he was telling me people come from miles around for the pulled pork.
In the summer there is also outside dining, live entertainment and they can be found around the state at local events serving up their amazing grub from their food truck. You won't leave hungry, I recommend if you're in the area and want some stick to your ribs...
Read moreI researched for places to eat lunch in Augusta and this seemed to be the best option for us. We got there 10 min after it opened and there's already a line out the door (that is generally a good sign).
Positives: The food was excellent, fries, chicken sandwich, Mac and cheese, all very very good. They have a nice outside eating area with tables and umbrellas.
Negatives: It's a slow process to order and get your food. I can understand the food part because it seems everything is made to order and thus it does take time. Not to mention how busy they were. But the area where they could improve on is the ordering process. They had only 1 woman taking your order and pulling together the food for the previous order. What I usually see is 2 people doing that, one handles getting the orders while another person runs around to get all of your food onto a tray or in a bag. Maybe they were short staffed the day I went. The other less than positive was the burger was underwhelming. As mentioned, the fries were awesome and the chicken sandwich was excellent. I wouldn't order the burger again but I do see other reviews claiming they have great burgers, maybe mine was the exception but that is all I have to go on for...
Read moreWould not recommend! VERY slow service, showed up almost as soon as they opened but I geuss phone orders take priority because quiet a few people got their food before myself and the pair just in front of me. I ordered pulled pork sandwich with fries and waited over 45mins for something that just needs to be assembled. Fries are mediocre at best half (that I tried) were bland nothing not even salt the other had some peppery seasoning. Would have given them a pass and reconsidered going back but the sandwich was no good, first bite had a fatty chunk of meat several more bites just bland! BBQ sauce was more like a ketchup than anything no flavor. Sure portions are large but if it's not edible not worth it. Pictured is AFTER I had my "fill".
26 aug: Gave it a 2nd try... No one there at 300pm so did get my food quick... However the quality has not changed... Not sure what you are using for the fries but STOP or allow people regular fries w/salt without the "seasoning" you are using. The pulled pork was again a disappointment with the ketchup sauce... I actually rinsed the meat at home and used sauce in my fridge to at least make the meat somewhat edible... The fries went to my chickens.... Fix your fries and...
