Gyro Pit — Restaurant in Aurora Township

We ordered the gyro, rib tips and cheesy beef. This review is for the gyro and tips because my husband had the beef and he hasn't eaten yet lol. I will start with saying I am critical about service especially because I've worked in the service industry and know the ropes. Anyways, I called to place an order on the phone and had issues with my Bluetooth so we played the "hello" game. I was surprised she didn't hang up on me. The woman who answered was sooo patient and cheerful and was so helpful with taking my order. She was absolutely the sweetest and did a great job talking me into getting dessert too (Chocolate Cake). I went to pickup my order and arrived about 5 minutes early but it was already ready. I ended up also ordering another dessert too for my hubs. Okay so now for the food.... My french fries didn't make it home because I devoured them on the car ride. The rib tips melted in my mouth and the BBQ sauce was sooo good; they should bottle it and sell it. I almost demolished the coleslaw too. The rib tips dinner came with a salad and I chose Greek salad dressing. I was under the impression that it would just be a basic salad with Greek dressing but it was actually a real Greek salad with feta and olives too! The gyro was divine. It was thin and crispy and perfectly seasoned and is definitely real gyro meat not some of the knockoff cheap stuff you find at other places. The tzatziki sauce was perfect with a great consistency (not watery or chunky like you find at some places). Last but not least, my order was 99% accurate. The only thing that was missed was a side of sweet peppers since I ordered both sweet and hot but I also had several other customizations so this definitely wasn't a big deal especially considering how busy they were! I hate to take stars away from a nice family owned neighborhood spot, because they are very friendly and the service is amazing.

But the food left much to be desired, unfortunately. The Grecian 1/2 chicken dinner : rice was good, chicken was bland , pita was stale , salad was very fresh and delicious though!

Came back to order more food another day , and the fries were undercooked and limped. Mom didn’t like her fish sandwich, said it was dry and unseasoned. Bun was toasted too hard.

I don’t eat gyro so the only other thing I’d be willing to give them a 3rd chance on is a hot dog and polish. Really hard to...

I'm sorry, but if you have Gyro in your name, you should be able to produce a really good one.. It wasn't good. Very dry and bland flavor. The onions looked like they were cut and then left open in the fridge for days, giving them an awful taste.. Rib tips are drowned in BBQ sauce, and the fries must sit around cooked and then re dropped in the fryer to heat before put in your order. I am very disappointed in what we got for what it cost. With all the other options around to compete with, you would think you would put more effort into making top quality and not just push out sub par. I don't think I'll ever go...
