McBride's North — Restaurant in Aurora

I love McBrides. It is a solid restaurant/ bar that is always clean. The outdoor patio with real palm trees and the little globe string lights in the summer, is super inviting.

The food is always hot and I don’t think there is a bad dish on the menu. I love their hamburgers in particular. They are always stacked with the freshest vegetables.

The iceberg lettuce chunk is always crisp and fresh as it is served not like the old precut junk at a lot of other places. Also note that I said chunk, not leaf. This alone adds flavor and a nice texture to the burger.

There is also a full large red onion slice, not rings…..an entire (thin) slice. You can break it up or leave it as is to guarantee a crispy and not over bearing onion flavor throughout your burger.

The pickles almost feel homemade. They are not old and mushy and have a solid presence on the burger.

The bun is huge, slightly sweet, and toasted

The meat patty is flavorful and always sizzling hot and juicy. My only beef with this burger is that it needs a little seasoning. So, I add salt and pepper, as I add ketchup and mustard.

When this monster of a burger is finally assembled, it is 5-6” tall and ginormous burger will please any traditional burger fan on the planet, guaranteed. Now, after all this is said about the burger, don’t forget about the larger than large quantity of crispy hot crinkle fries that accompanies it. There are other options available for a slight up charge, too. If you are a tator tot fan or prefer freshly steamed vegetables for a larger low carb meal, this is the place to be.

Omg. I have not ordered it myself in quite a while, but my son always does…..try the Cajun chicken pasta with garlic bread dish. It is a tad rich but the flavor is consistent and good. Again, freshly grilled chicken is added on top of the hot pasta.

I will add more to this post when I have the rib eye steak sandwich. It is insanely good and juicy. The steak is always freshly grilled with all the charred line markings and served hot on french bread.

There's some items on the menu that are actually pretty good. But tbh a good chunk of the food here is meh and simply not worth the price. I would give this place a higher rating if some of the waiters weren't so horrendously bad. The last time I was here, the waiter took about 20 minutes to bring our menus, then 10 minutes to take our order and bring our drinks. Then, about 20 minutes to bring out our food, which she brought our checks with our food for some reason? She walked into the back, and we didn't see her for 40 minutes. We had to wait 40 minutes to just order dessert, and we waited over an hour for refills at this point. It took her another 10 minutes to get the refills and 30 minutes to bring out the dessert we ordered. Then, it took her another 25 minutes to bring us the new check. And another 20 for her to come grab our cards. This place is actually pretty alright when we get one of the waiters that actually does their job, but that rarely happens. The bingo and trivia nights are pretty fun, though. Please just get better waiters or have them trained. Out of the about 10 times I've been here, I've only had 2 waiters be attentive to my table. My friend brings us here bc she grew up coming here, but after this last experience, none of us want to go back. We would say just order to go, but tbh you can get better food and prices without having to even look hard. Having a neighborhood bar is pretty great. And one with good food makes it even better! I typically have a really great experience here but this last time wasn't. We walked in as THE ONLY party at a table. There appeared to only be two servers which is fine since there weren't a while lot of people there. We ordered our food (appetizer, salad, burger). I made modifications to the salad that I know they can do because I always order the salad that way. Three other parties came in while we were waiting. ALL THREE TABLES got their food before us. Now those tables had a different sever who appeared to be hustling her butt off! Our server appeared confused or unsure or maybe just new. I don't know. But my salad came out without the things I asked for, he didn't check too often to see if we needed anything (didn't really check on the table behind us even when he brought an appetizer to their table of empty glasses). If this guy is new, then I can understand. Waiting tables can be challenging. However, if you only have two or three of the 9 or 10 tables waiting, I would think you could be a bit more attentive. I really hope there is some training that happens cause I'd like to have a better experience if I come back. Or, perhaps, just not sit in this guy's...
