Jack in the Box — Restaurant in Baker

Just a stone's throw from the world's largest thermometer and also connected to a Shell station sits Jack in the Box in Baker, CA. This was our last stop on our week long vacation to Colorado prior to getting home. Grandkids are hungry and adults are sick of McDonalds so we opt for Jack in the Box. The dining room is somewhat spacious and restrooms are clean so how about the food? I had the 2 taco special and a chicken tender wrapped in a flour tortilla. The tacos are surprisingly good for what is inside them and the chicken tender wrap was pretty tasty as well. The 2 tacos and the wrap was less than $5 so that satisfied the Cheap Pete in me. Prices are reasonable considering what it cost to eat out these days and so with a party of 8 we appreciated the Jack deals. As with most places, timing is critical. We ordered and found seats just in time as approximately 25 people were getting in line as we got our food. It could be that we were close to Alien Jerky or a tour bus was stopping after they visited the big thermometer. Anyway, it was good to fill the gas tank and everyone's belly's prior to getting home. Start off saying the place was a mess. Tables were dirty, food all over floor. Beverage station needed a good wip down. Received the first order of the 6 piece crispy chicken strips. Bit into it and the center was like mush. You know that texture of under cooked chicken. The second batch was well done to cook the chicken inside. That didn't work either. The chicken had lost its flavor and texture. I did order the 6 piece but only received 5. The way they tasted I could have received just 1 and would not have mentioned it at this ponit. I recall visiting this restaurant 4 years ago from today (5 Jun 2023) with my family and realized that I didn't leave any comments to support my rating. During our visit, I remember that we enjoyed our food quality and service. The one thing that was unsatisfactory, was the cleanliness of the dining area and men's bathroom (I didn't ask my family about the female's bathroom though so I'm unsure how it was). I understand that no restaurant is perfect, therefore, if I'm ever in the area again during my transit, I'm sure I will stop here to eat if I'm hungry and in the mood for it.
