Disappointing First Visit to Kamisama on Olive Drive
I was really looking forward to trying Kamisama for the first time, but unfortunately, my experience at the Olive Drive location was far from impressive.
Let start with how empty the establishment was when I walked in. I've never been to a restaurant where I am the only one in it while I ate. I guess that's good if you're a person who lives a solitary life. Very quiet.
I started with the Spicy Beef Rice Noodle Ramen, which sounded great on the menu--except it was completely misleading. Instead of beef, the bowl contained three different kinds of pork. As someone who doesn't eat pork, this was extremely disappointing and felt like false advertising. If a dish is labeled as beef, it should contain beef, or at the very least, indicate that pork is included. To make things worse, the meat was raw and not fully cooked. When I brought it to the staff's attention, they told me that the meat "should've been cooked by the hot water in the soup." That response made me so uncomfortable that I had the dish returned.
Hoping for a better experience, I decided to try the regular Tonkotsu Ramen. Let's just say--I've had much better. The meat was dry and overcooked, the nori was different from what I'm used to, and the boiled egg was overcooked as well. I had asked for the broth to be spicy, and while it did have spice, it wasn't enough to save the dish.
Apparently, there are two Kamisama locations--one on Olive Drive (where I went) and another on Calloway Drive. From what I understand, the Olive Drive location is newer (the waiter mentioned it's been open for about 3-5 months). Maybe that's why the quality wasn't great, but I won't be rushing back to give it another try. If I ever do, it'll be at the Calloway location to see if there's a difference.
Overall, this visit was disappointing, and I can't recommend the Olive Drive location based on...
Read moreShould have known there were issues from the get-go when walking into an empty restaurant. I’ve tried other ramen places in Bako and would have to say this place is my least favorite. It was my first time coming to this place, and definitely will be my last.
The pictures are misleading as the food you will receive will not come as pictured. I order the Beef Noodle Soup and what they have pictured is not what I received. You can clearly see a different broth was used and Spinach was included but were nowhere to be found when my dish arrived.
Another red flag is when we asked the waitress for ‘Bun Bo hue’, they had no clue what we asked for EVEN THOUGH it was pictured on one of there walls. AND again, the food that came out looked nothing like the picture .
The only good feedback I have is that the place was clean (but that’s probably because people don’t frequent the place).
The food you order is not want you get, and also the broth has a really bad aftertaste. The meat was overcooked.
If you’re in Bako and looking for Ramen, I would recommend other ramen places on Bako instead. Really not sure how this place has good ratings and had a...
Read moreI fell in love with this place.. best fresh Ramen you can have for the price and i love the location because its not to far from my house. The atmosphere is very inviting and peaceful and quiet. The service was good as well as the time it took for us to sit down order our drinks then order from the menu and then wait 10 minutes and have our food arrive was just GREAT. I tried the chicken teriyaki bowl this last time and asked them to grill my chicken well done and it came out perfect. Nice crispy pieces of chicken laid over a bed of Garlic fried rice with broccoli and cabbage and carrots drizzled in a delicious teriyaki sauce and i ask for extra sauce to because i love it so much. The whole meal was great and i will for sure go back again and again. This place is must try if your into different styles of ramen or if your like me .. simply LOVE a good chicken...
