Came here for the first time while visiting from out of state. I love Mexican food and have it at least twice a week. El Patron has plenty of authentic dishes and accents. The restaurant is nicely decorated in Mexican decor. The menu has a lot of options! It was very hard to decide on one thing. They immediately brought out baskets of chips and cups of salsa. We ordered some guacamole. It was delicious. Very we made! I had a glass of sangria. It didn’t have any fruit in it and but it was delicious. I settled on the lunch special chicken chimichanga. It came with refried beans and yellow rice. I was able to eat everything but 1/2 of the chimichanga. My daughter ordered the shrimp tacos. She said it was really good! My sister got the plate with 4 different kinds of tacos. She said they were delicious! It came with 4. She took two home. My sister in law got a small margarita and taquitos. She said they were really good. My brother got some French fries with beef strips and cheese on them. The kids shared a quesadilla. My portion of the bill, which was the two guacamole’s, the shrimp tacos, the chicken chimichanga, the sangria and a coke, was $47 before tip. Not bad since we had enough leftovers for my husband to have an entire meal out of it. So, $47 for 3 people. The waiter was great and I tipped him 25%. They were very attentive to our large party of 10. They also have outdoor eating which looked really nice on a spring day. I will...
Read moreOutstanding Mexican food in Kansas?!?! Yes!!! This place is worth a drive.
Slightly more elegant than the typical place but with all the colors and splendor you might expect.
The food though, it's wonderful. I haven't had anything that I didn't like, but let me tell you what I just had. Starting with the chips and salsa. The chips are served hot and the salsa is outstanding. Perfectly spiced, well blended, and the notes of cilantro dancing around your palette.
I had the Enchiladas El Patron, which was super filling. It had 4 chicken enchiladas wrapped in flour tortillas and topped with green sauce, cheese, and sour creme. A nice grilled pineapple ring placed right above the rest. I added some excellent rice for a side and some horchata to drink! The chips and salsa kept coming and the staff were kind and attentive.
A great total experience and we...
Read moreI wish a 0 star rating was possible. Party of 2. We attempted to dine here but wont go back. The restaurant was about 1/4 full. The man working the registar actually turned to the side to avoid "noticing" us as we came in the front door 10 feet from his desk. Then two gentlemen walked in from the other room and he began to ring them up. 5 min later he was still working on ringing them up chatting with them and looking up often but somehow still failed to notice us standing only about 5 foot away now. When a party of 5 came in standing behind us he said goodby to the men paying, picked up 5 menus and walked around us to the second party and took them to be seated. I 0lanned to ask why he was not seating us but he he seemed to disappear and not return. I don't know why he did not want us at his restaurant but, he can...
