Homestead Kitchen & Bakery — Restaurant in Baldwin City

Last night was my first experience with Homestead. We got the pot pie special take and bake style and holy cow! That was the best pot pie I've ever had! Loved it so much we went back again today for lunch! I got the calzone, AMAZING! My husband got the lunch special, half sandwich with salad and he loved it. My picky 6 year old loved her $3 kid's meal! My only "complaint" is the pot pie special comes with a quart of ice cream, and you don't get a full quart, it's a quart container with scoops of ice cream. Probably get about 3/4 a quart. Good buttery croissant chicken salad with hint of spice. Home fried potato chips were a little overdone but tasty. $10 for the set. Pricey but yum & good practical portions. Nice atmosphere but the paint could use a little TLC & the tables could be cleaner. Nice selection of ice cream & baked goods. I like that I could walk through the boutique next door without going outside. The featured artist should charge more for her paintings. Go! Go quickly as this place is the real-deal for those made-from-scratch entrees, small plates, and baked goods. Plus the little “store” there is eclectic and farm friendly.
