China Gate Restaurant — Restaurant in Baldwin Park

!!!!DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! First off I walked into this place and the guy working was sitting down on his phone. I get it, he's taking a break, it's not busy, but I called him over nicely once and he ignored me, the second time I called him over he came up to the counter already with an attitude. His tone was just rude, and impatient. Then when he rang me up he snatched my debit card from my hands and I was left speechless. I didn't say anything. He then proceeded to put my two combos in the bag and I noticed he didn't give me any condiments. I politely asked for sriracha, and he snarled at me. He then gave me one little cup of sriracha for two combos! See pictures for reference. When I asked him politely for a second cup since I did in fact pay for TWO combos he then proceeded to make a face at me and looked annoyed to have to reach for a second cup... like what? What took the cake was the fact that after he bagged my stuff and handed it to me he made a sarcastic smile and said bye and waved his hand.. like seriously rude. You could tell he was being an A-hole about it. I called him out on his rudeness. I'd heard people at this place are rude and today I confirmed that. So hard to find a good Chinese food place sometimes and I genuinely liked this place but screw them!...

Food is cold, like the heaters they keep it in don't work. Unfortunately, there is a language barrier and the one person who speaks English fluently is a tyrant. We dined in to eat our food. My child was thirsty and they denied them a cup of water. Rather yelling at him $1.00 $1.00! Just for a cup of tap water. We didn't have a dollar for water. And honestly the food was ruined by its freezing temperature. I kinda feel bad for the two older adults who speak no English who slave in the back. But we won't be back ever again.

In response to owner: thank you for your thoughts the person who denied the child a cup of water was a young male. He first directed the child to a cooler with bottled water. I interjected that I had no more cash to purchase a water and asked for a cup which in turn he repeated $1.00 $1.00. I asked him was that for a cup 🥤 😳 thinking I might have a quarter or maybe $.50 for a Styrofoam cup and he just kept say no $1.00 and I said, "for tap water, it's okay." So between the cold food and the fact we thought your establishment had changed in a negative manner we wrote the review to inform you, the owner. We used to go there frequently but we moved. We actually made a special trip from Montebello. I do hope this review helps you and we may try again...

This place was completely bad the people don’t speak English making it harder to understand them. When I had asked for some forks they completely yelled and said “OK I GET IT FOR YOU JUST WAIT” even though I was the only customer in there. The serving portions are also very small they don’t give you much meat. When they are serving you they don’t always wear gloves and they are constantly putting there hands/fingers in the food instead of placing it on top of the counter they hold it there. When I first entered they people were screaming in the back and came out looking very mad and just glared at me. Most of the people don’t know what they are doing either, when checking me out they had multiple people come just to so it can waste 5 minutes of my time.
