Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Baldwin Township

Worst experience ever. Terrible, Horrid, Disrespectful service. The woman that opened the window was not friendly. She was rushing me through my order. Also, I thought I was getting Cake Batter Ice when really it was custard. This would have been avoided if they would have properly labeled “Today’s Custard Flavors”. They have the Cake Batter flavor under “Today’s Ice Flavors” which leads me to believe I’m getting ice instead of custard. So when I was given my product, I said I wanted ice. The worker told me that this was custard because the sign was orange. How the hell would I know that orange means custard when I never here until some occasion arises. The McNeilly Rita's is one of the closest places to us for ice cream, so we have frequented this location a number of times. While the service is usually quick and moderately friendly, the custard is consistently mediocre. Somewhat lighter and less dense than others, their custard is also rather bland, with hardly any flavor difference between the chocolate and vanilla. On the last few trips, the custard has had a slightly sour/bitter note indicative of old mix or poorly cleaned equipment. What the heck!!! I never had bad Rita's until now. Twice we have gone and the ice is hard chunky and flavorless. The custard is too thick and not creamy. This location has very few flavors and always out of things.. whipped cream one day, custard the next. Worker didn't know how to make items on the menu and served me a huge overflowing cup when I asked for a kids portion. Why is there only one poor person working when the line is long and service is so slow?! Watched many people walk way including us the day there...
