Motte Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Baltimore

This place had great reviews so I had high expectations. I also was excited to have a nice new restaurant opening in Baltimore serving Korean food. It had to have been the hype from opening because it was a disappointment; the entire experience. To start off, the servers are not trained properly and are confused entirely. Our waitress took our drink and food orders first thing, it took 30 mins for our two drinks…. 30. Then upon asking for our drinks after waiting unusually long, she said she would check on them and ask if we wanted to put our food in and where our menus went. She was the one who took our order and took away the menus so we were confused. There were 4 tables in the entire restaurant at this time. Then the food took 50 mins…. I had a feeling she forgot to put it in. When she delivered our food, she did not know which sides went with which entree. The food also tasted extremely under seasoned for “Korean food”. We wanted extra sauce and seasoning, after being served and no one came back to check on us to have the opportunity to ask. I barely touched my food. Then when we asked for another round of drinks, she asked if we wanted it “to go” and I questioned her as to why alcoholic drinks would be ok to go and if we couldn’t have it with our meal ? Our server went oh you’re right Nevermind. I believe it is the owner or the manager at the front of the store but they were too busy being on the computer or chatting with employees at a table instead of going around and making sure the few tables in the restaurant had a pleasant experience and service. The other tables also seem annoyed asking if we pay up at the front due to waiting and waiting. Not coming back for this service and bland food. Please take the time to train your employees and have knowledge of the menu and drinks. The only thing good about this place is the decoration...

We had an incredible experience here service wise with friendly staff and great food! Unsure if we got lucky with our timing, but service was prompt and satisfactory. Also, there was a automatic chair to descend the steps, I thought that was a very thoughtful touch regarding accessibility.

Appetizers we had the motte wings, shrimp balls, and brusselsprouts; the Brussels were our favorite of the trio.

The main dishes we had were the Spicy Chicken Ttekbokki and Bulgogi with white kimchi and pickled radish. The food came out hot and fresh.

The spicy chicken wasn’t overtly spicy, it had just the right amount of flavor and my partner enjoyed it throughly. The bulgogi wasn’t flavorful to me at first but once I started to mix it with the flavor found at the bottom of the bowl plate I couldn’t stop eating it, plus the white kimchi and pickled radish (which I typically don’t eat from most Korean restaurants) took it to another level alongside the white rice (which had a great texture) it came with.

Ultimately we pretty much cleared our plates and were quite satisfied and we got a chance to talk with Gloria one of the co-owners and had a great conversation following our meal.

We’re looking forward to coming back, trying some of the drinks and different dishes. The only heads-up I would say is if you’re susceptible to being cold, the tables next to the wall right under the ac can have the air bounce off of the wall and make it even colder than it is… bring a light jacket just in case, but we just moved one seat over and were fine the rest of...

Amazing food and great portions! My family and I tried out the Motte Restaurant for the first time and we had a wonderful experience. All the dishes were delicious and seasoned to perfection. For our starters, we got the Motte wings, fried squid, and brussels sprout. They were a great combination of savory flavor and crispy texture. We ordered the Hot N Sweet Shrimp pizza and spicy chicken tteokbokki for the main, both of which highlighted the freshness of the ingredients. I would absolutely recommend the pizza. The flavors were on point and deliciously topped with high quality toppings. To finish our meal, we had the banana milk ice cream, a 10/10 dessert unlike anything I’ve ever tried. Its smooth consistency and perfectly balanced sweetness made it a memorable ending to the meal. The atmosphere of the restaurant was wonderful; the interior design and the lighting fixtures particularly stood out. The service was amazing, and we had a very pleasant experience thanks to the friendly and attentive staff. The service was not only warm but also efficient, with our dishes arriving promptly.
