Enoch Pratt Free Library - Southeast Anchor Branch — Attraction in Baltimore

The upper staff team members were EXCELLENT! They assisted me with what I needed help with without just pushing me onto someone else. It was my very first visit and I didn't know my way around. As I entered the building there were people standing around and sitting on the walls of the library grounds just smoking and drinking. I almost didn't bother about going inside but I had to. The front desk lady wasn't much help at all and the gentleman who was beside her didn't even ask if he could be of assistance. She hurried me along to the upper area and I was very pleased with EVERYONE up there. Call before you arrive if you need to use the copier or the fax machine. Seems like all were either out of order or needed to be fixed, then a sign went on it, saying OUT OF SERVICE! I will have to find another library in that area because I honestly can't go through all that SMOKE before entering, just to not get the help needed unless I travel to a and l second floor. Children were running, loudly among the second floor and the adult who was with them only watched for a while before chasing them around trying to get them seated. Our experience is mainly of the children's section. My toddler loves this place! We have been taking advantage of the summer reading program, which allows you to get a free book every month for every member of the family. On top of the great selection of books, with lots of low chairs and tables to browse them, there is a large open space in the back for reading circles as well as play in general. They keep an assortment of toys back there, including puzzles, blocks and toy cars. To be honest, that's the part my kid likes the most, but the important thing is to build those positive relationships with the library! I was in a couple of days ago. The librarians at the front desk and computer were very helpful and friendly. I am back today, and the librarian in the teen section is letting a young man have a loud disturbing conversation with no one, disrupting the peace of the library and disturbing patrons. His constant prattle is annoying everyone except the librarian who doesn't seem interested in making the library an enjoyable place.
