This place is OK.. but lets be honest... Overrated. For the area it is in I guess it is easy to impress, but this is just an average expensive Mexican restaurant that I guess people talk about on social media because it always "appears" busy and the Verde sauce is a little spicy... You wait an hour no matter for a burrito.. I believe this is by design to keep the mystique going of how crazy busy it is and its worth the wait nonsense. If it legit takes an hour to go through the amount of orders Ive watched them do the few times Ive been there while waiting, they legit need to reevaluate how they do things. Be real, a mexican restaurant like this everything is pre-prepared... It has to be for the most part. They arent cooking most of this stuff to order, its assembled to order. Better places out there, its good though.. worth giving it a shot once or twice. But realize if you order online for pickup and show up 45 mins later you probably will still wait another 40+ mins.. few times ive gone they dont start making my order until Ive arrived. Also a lot of items you customize while ordering... And well.. a lot of this is extra cost but some is standard stuff.. either way Ive never had them make something exactly the way I ordered it... Most the time its ok... But when you pay extra for stuff its not cool because you cant complain about anything at this place, you have to inspect it before you leave... And I do... But are you going to disassemble each item to make sure its made properly before leaving? Eh.....

We went to Consuelo’s today nearly 7 years since our last visit — we are from the East Coast and hadn’t been to California in that time. However, as we planned our trip, the lingering memory from 7 years prior of incredible food made us build a stop here into our trip as we traveled from Palm Springs to LA. It was totally worth it!
One big change is that the restaurant is now only for takeout (used to have a dining area 7 years ago). We were mildly disappointed by that, but oh well…the food was still delicious. We ate our tacos in our car and they were nice enough to give us containers to do so to avoid the mess in the car.
The tacos are very big. One soft taco was like a small burrito and was sufficient to fill each of us up. The drinks were very large too (Coke products). The place was also very clean looking which is something that stood out to us 7 years prior and had not changed.
Having tacos for breakfast was somewhat unusual but we were so thankful that we could have them at 9:30am to fill a long overdue craving. They did offer more traditional breakfast things too.
This place doesn’t look like much from the outside, but hiding within is a true gem. After your first visit, you’ll likely want to plan your future trips around a...
Read moreWe were on a road trip to Palm Springs and decided to stop here for lunch based on reviews since we’ve never been to that area before. My wife and I decided to share the Chile verde burrito because it was so big and also ordered the chips and salsa. First of all, I have a Thai family so I’ve been eating spicy food my whole life but the burrito was so spicy that it was totally inedible. It was so bad that we couldn’t even taste the food. We tried to eat it but it felt like we were eating acid. It was like eating a ghost pepper all by itself. Still hungry we moved into the chips and salsa, and honestly I thought was some kind of joke. It was a styrofoam box full of tortillas chips covered in shredded Kraft America cheese that had solidified into this hard crust over the chips. It was very difficult to eat because you could only break off these big chunks of coagulated cheese and chips. Frustrated we gave up and drove to Wendy’s in Palm Springs where we tossed the burrito and chips and had a greasy...
