Bardstown Country Club at Maywood — Restaurant in Bardstown

I've played a lot of golf. Good courses, bad courses and inbetween.

Without a doubt, this course is in the worst condition of any I've ever played.

The fairways are full of dandelions, clovers, and all different varieties of weeds. There also seems to be some sort of disease causing brown dead circles all over the fairways. If you hit one in the middle of the fairway, I'd say you have less than a 50/50 shot of getting a decent lie.

The tee boxes are gnarley and unkept. The sand traps are basically mud, and clearly haven't been worked on in quite some time. The rough is a jungle of different kinds of weeds, ant hills and bad lies.

Ant hills are also in abundance on all the greens. Some of the ant mountains are quite majestic looking, but not much fun to be constantly cleaning off the greens.

Trust me. I'm not some snobby got to have a perfect course to play on kinda guy. I sometimes play at the local park district course and its in 1,000x better shape than this place.

For $50 a round, you've got to expect more than this. At any price, it is just not a course that is...

Went on Sunday, Aug 3, having driven down from Lexington. The # of weeds and the quality of the putting surface was disturbing. The fringe was non existent and was nothing but crab grass. The greens had tons of poorly repaired or not repaired ball marks and were very bumpy. The rpugh was full of weeds and it was difficult to find balls due to the dandelions. Overall, pace of play was decent which was a positive. When the round ended, the cart attendant came to us and immediately started spitting out really hateful and disgusting political garbage. Played Maywood yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. The pro shop staff is top notch. The practice range and putting green are perfect. The golf course layout is fun and challenging. The condition of the golf course is excellent but a few of the bunkers are still being renovated and are being played as ground-under-repair. The greens roll pure. One recommendation is a few signs are needed to help navigating between certain holes. Perhaps most importantly for the group I was with, the selection of beers offered in the clubhouse...
