El Paisa Mexican Restaurant LLC — Restaurant in Barnegat Township

Wow! Decided to try this little hole in the wall restaurant. I am not a fan of Mexican food but my fiancee is so we stopped in. The place is very small but was pretty busy. The owner was very nice. We ordered a pork burrito and steak fajitas to go. The wait was not long for fresh food, about 20 minutes. The food was very good. The owner asked us if we wanted sauces which we took. One was some sort of hot sauce. It had a great taste and was not too hot. It went perfect with the burrito. The fajitas was excellent to. The flavors coming from both of these dishes almost knocked me off me feet. They were that good. Again I WAS not a fan of Mexican food but this place has changed my mind in that aspect and we will be going back here very soon. If you like Mexican food you need to try this place. You will not be disappointed. Went back today and ordered beef tacos with cheese. Got home with no cheese. Who wants a taco without cheese? Called and they said the best they can do I can drive back and get a side of cheese. So I am suppose to drive at 5 dollars a galln for a side of cheese. Not gonna lie I was so excited for barnegat to have anything other than Chinese food or Italian and was I disappointed, the food is sub par and u will wait atleast an hour for takeout …. The inside is a day care and or hangout spot in which they will literally talk about how long your waiting , meanwhile I speak Spanish and they laugh about it … idk if the owner was there but I waited over an hour for a plate al pastor tacos to go and that was one of my first visits… this place is trash compared to the perfect Latino restaurants close to this spot . Latino flavor grill or el tepyac are less than a mile down the road and will definitely destroy this place …. Unless they fix there service and quality it will fail like every restaurant on that corner of rt 9 by dominos … verrrry disappointed , would actually give it 0 stars if able...

This place is amazing, family owned & run by the most sincere & passionate staff! If you're looking for tex-mex don't come here, there are plenty other americanized options around. If you want authentic, fresh Mexican food that will not disappoint, this is your place (as well as ours). The homemade tortillas are the best I've had outside of southern Cali. Do yourself a favor and do NOT be intimidated by the traditional dishes on the menu such as Lengua & Cabeza, they are unbelievable! If that's not your thing there are plenty of other options inside your comfort zone. Everything we had was outstanding and I cannot wait to go back.
