Not the best experience by the staff in the Barnegat, NJ store. The young lady with long brown hair who waited on me had a change in her attitude towards me when I asked her about how she was wiping down the slicer for me. I ordered a gluten free sandwich. For gluten free orders they should use a dedicated gf slicer to be completely safe with no cross contamination. I asked her to do that for me. Instead she decided to wipe down the slicer she was using to make all of the sandwiches. I watched her go over to the hand sink- which should not be used for any other purposes than to wash hands- and spray the unclean kitchen cleaning towel with a blue “sanitizing” spray. She proceeded to wipe down the slicer. I asked her - or started to ask her before I was rudely interrupted by her and given “the attitude”- if she was going to wipe down the slicer again with a kitchen towel with just water to get the sanitizer off of the slicer before she cut the turkey on that slicer. I dont want cleaning sanitizer and chemicals on my deli meat that I will be eating! BUT she copped an attitude , threw the towel in the hand sink, took off her food handlers gloves, interrupted me mid-sentence and went and used the slicer that was clean and not being used- which is what I asked for in the first place. I dont need sarcastic attitude from a deli sandwich maker when I am going into a store to buy an already over priced and just ok sandwich. I went in to get a sandwich because they have gf options. I was out running errands and didn't want to stop home to eat and have go back out again. I also bought the other half of the gluten free hero roll that they cut in half to take home with me. I asked them to please wrap it for me since the end of the bread in the wrapper was open. They didn't. It was quickly thrown in the bag- with the same “get this lady out of here because shes bothering me” attitude. So with that being said I will NEVER go back into any Jersey Mikes shop and either will my husband. Beware if you are gluten free and ask an employee to do their job to endure your food/dietary restriction/health safety. I dont need to be treated disrespectfully or like Im causing a hassle for the employees just because I am gluten free or asking questions to ensure my dietary safety or that Im causing a problem because I dont want “sanitizer” and the chemicals contained within on my deli meat. If its too much to keep a clean gluten free dedicated area that can be used for people like me, then dont offer gluten free options! Train your employees how to be respectful and courteous and to not “cop an attitude” just because I dont want sanitizing chemicals in my food. They should be polite to the customers. Thats a golden rule in the restaurant/deli/hospitality business. I dont think I was asking anything out of the ordinary, especially since Ive been a National Award Winning Chef for...
Read moreI swing by this Jersey Mike’s a couple times a month, and it’s consistently great. The team moves fast even during the lunch rush, and they’re friendly without rushing you through choices. My go-to is a cold sub “Mike’s Way” (onions, lettuce, tomato, oregano, and that oil & vinegar that makes the bread sing). They slice the meat and cheese right in front of you, the produce is crisp, and the rolls have that perfect soft-inside/chewy-outside thing going on.
I’ve also grabbed a hot sub here loaded with steak, peppers, and melted cheese and they didn’t skimp on the filling. Everything was hot, wrapped cleanly, and stayed tidy to eat. Portion sizes are solid for the price, and they’re happy to tweak toppings (extra pickles/banana peppers for me) without making it a big deal.
Mobile orders have been accurate and ready at the quoted time, which is clutch when I’m between errands. The dining area and drink station are kept clean, and they wipe tables regularly. Only tip: if you’re hitting the peak noon window, expect a short line it moves quickly but this spot is popular for a reason.
Bottom line: fresh ingredients, friendly crew, and subs that taste like someone cared....
Read moreWent here for lunch at 1230 in the afternoon. They slid my husband's sandwich across vinegar so we asked her to remake the sandwich. They remade it but barely cut threw it. They were working on too many sandwiches at once that I lost mine. Suddenly it was done and I noticed there was oil and vinegar on it. She said yeah. I said that's not what I asked for. She told me she would remake it. I was waiting so I could tell her what to put on my sandwich and she said it was done. I said you don't even know what I want. I went to the car to check it bc she spewed the ingredients at me super fast. No mayo! She rushed me out the door and it wasn't even right. I went back in and told her it still wasn't right and she slaps mayo on each individual piece! This is unacceptable I have to eat this food and I paid good money for this food it should look appealing not just slapped together and thrown in my face. I am very upset and won't be back! I will also do my best to spread the word. I work at wawa I know how to make a...
