Plata's Mexican Food — Restaurant in Barstow

I have been to hundreds of Mexican restaurants over the years, but Platas is now far and away my favorite place to get a satisfying meal in one simple wrap of all out flavor. Christina made us feel at home at this family restaurant which has been churning out authentic and satisfying homemade recipes since the 70s. Try the #1 Meat and Bean, or Shredded Beef n Potato (#9 or 10) burritos, You will be on Cloud 9 as I am. This is no exaggeration. I assure you. All burritos come wrapped in homemade flour tortillas, the quality of which I haven't tasted since my abuelita passed away 40 years ago. Prices very reasonable too. Now looking for reasons to drive the two hours from Cerritos just to visit again. A+, a 10, 5 Stars, no...

As always u get FULL at Platas. We go to all the locations. For 30 years I have been a customer. I take my workers to lunch there depending on what location we are working at. They are huge guys & everyone gets nice & full on whatever they order. The people are nice & it's family owned. They treat u like family also. We all got the potatoe & cheese burritos. And the chips & salsa on the side. Cheese, potatoes & either pork or beef, hot or mild. They're your family so u order it like u want it. It's not fancy but it's clean & what's important is its good food & you will be stuffed & sleepy & don't want to go back to work. Those are some hungry man...

Love Platas. Always have, since the 80s! Haven't had tacos in a long time. They were so good! But dang, the prices went up 😒 while I don't expect it to be what it was in the 80s, i would expect it to be affordable. I noticed that their prices were blank, i hope they reconsider. 2 tacos a small order of salsa and a quesadilla was about $30. Granted the quesadilla is huge, but thats a lot for a meal for one even if there is left over quesadilla. Guess next time I'll have to ask the prices if they're not listed so I'm not sticker shooketh!...
