Went to Drusilla's Seafood based on several great memories from the 90's with friends here in Baton Rouge. Back then the food was always on point as well as the service when you wanted an upscale place to go and dine out. Even thier catered parties were fantastic back then!! Unfortunately this visit was far from the nostalgic memory I had hoped to enjoy again. The place is still nice but quite a bit dated when it comes to decor so that aspect of nostalgia was successful. The cocktails were okay but could have been a little stronger as the alcohol seemed a bit watered down in the House Margarita that I ordered. The grilled oysters however were very good. The Shrimp Drusilla was very good as well. However the Onion rings had a bit much of breading and lacked seasoning. The Seafood Eggplant Casserole was quite bland but edible. Ordered what was called "Fried Catfish Filets" -- SPECIFICALLY asked waitress were they whole filets with the center bone removed and was told YES. So proceeded with order. When the fish came out it was a pile of french fries with catfish belly strips on top! - When the waitress saw my expression she asked if it was okay and I reminded her that I had asked if it would be whole fillets and not catfish belly strips. She did apologize and asked if I wanted to send back of which I told her not to worry as I didn't want to receive another order that would probably come out when my friend was done eating so I would make due. She asked if I wanted the manager and I clearly said NO THANKS I will just eat it and pay for the items ordered and know for next time not to order this dish. Shortly the manager arrived and asked what was my complaint of which I explained that I had no further complaint and specifically told the waitress not to get him so that we could continue conversation among ourselves as I was more interested in catching up with the friend I hadn't seen in years. He then proceeded to tell me that what I had "IS CATFISH FILETS" but they just cut theirs into strips unlike other restaurants. I really didn't care at this point but to go as far as to try and tell me that perfectly good filets would be cut into strips for no reason was absolutely silly not to mention the fact that the flesh of the strips was NOT white but greyish beige and slightly fatty as is always the case with CHEAPER catfish strips. -- Instead of going on I told him I was fine no worries after which he proceeded to add...."well don't be mad with the waitress as it isn't her fault for the misunderstanding of the menu"......Seriously!!!!????? I never once said it was her fault! Further I had done everything I could to avoid not being bothered with the petty interruptions of their menu dilemma of using a substitute for filets to cut costs. I was as polite as possible so I could get back to my conversation with my friend and yet here we were wasting time on something I had repeatedly said NO Problem I'll make due with the dish. -- I wrote on the receipt that MIKE the manager was truly unprofessional when all that he had to do was make a simple apology for the mishap and move on instead of taking up more my time. -- But wait there's more....The ticket came with top shelf listed on receipt as charge for the margarita of which I had requested house brand. (again no complaint) -- I just paid the bill and left the waitress a 20% tip despite her doing the opposite of what was requested...mainly because I saw her not only waiting tables but expediting pick-up orders to bring the front hostess it seemed in between her table duties for carry out. --- I will NEVER return nor recommend Drusilla's Seafood again. -- Truly disappointed foodie and past...
Read moreWHAT a disappointment. Went with a group and had reservations. Didn't get our food for 2 hours. The waitress kept passing us up telling us she'd be "right with us" as she brought food and drinks to other people. Our orders weren't taken for 1&1/2 HOURS after we got there. Meanwhile it was difficult to even get drinks like iced tea and water refilled. I don't know if the bus-boy was supposed to help clear or serve drinks when the waitress was overloaded, but no luck there, and the manager didn't lift a finger to help what was clearly a bad situation except to bring some cocktail sauce once, and he didn't even bother to come apologize to us. By the time our orders were taken everyone was starving. Didn't make for a great celebration / family reunion situation. We were boxing stuff up and she was still saying she was going to be right back to clear some plates - the table was overloaded with them. I don't think a dish was removed the entire time we were there. The food is great, but I will never go there again. I suggest if you have to go there for something you eat ahead of time, because you have no idea how quickly you'll get your food, and no one is going to lift a finger to help the waitress that's waiting on ANOTHER large group while other servers are putzing around at their leisure. My husband's T-Bone was burned on one side and raw on the other, but he was so hungry by the time he got it he just ate it anyway. I know the manager knew it was a problem because on the way out one of the servers asked my husband how everything was, and when he told her she said, "Didn't the manager come over and talk to you? I told him there were problems." The dining room was pretty empty the whole time we were there - obviously everyone else knows better than to eat there, but I'm from out of town. This is not an inexpensive restaurant - I would expect better. I know they had other parties there, but those require reservations - the manager should have staffed for that. I couldn't believe how bad the service was while I watched other wait staff with nothing to do. Sorry, but EPIC FAIL on this restaurant. Never again. Terribly upset that I made such a bad choice for our...
Read moreNo Stars really. This was the worst experience ever. On 8/12th we enter Drusilla Seafood Baton Rouge, LA to celebrate a Birthday and a customer was ahead of us and one came in after us. We all standing and waiting for quite sometime to be seated. All of a sudden some of my party and the other customer heard something above our heads and was bothered. I did not know what it was...but I thought probably a bird had come through the door. Well, the more my party moved I paid attention and it was movement (scratching/taping of paws and tails)in the ceiling in the foyer or entrance area to be seated. As we begin to get even more frighten, the movement in the ceiling was more rapid..and without a doubt, it had to be rodents of some kind...large and more than one...So at this point, we is wondering where is the greeter. So the lady ahead of us, just went in the dinning area to find someone..also, we was scared and sicken at the thought of this..since we have dine here other times over the years and enjoyed. The greeter appear, no Hello, Sorry for your wait, or nothing..we were heading out, backwards and looking above, but my husband asked ...did she hear the noise and what was it? She answered, she didn't hear anything...so as we scrambling back and forth,...the rodents were running rapid and then she said..oh now I hear something since yall said something..Rude. My husband asked, what is it? She said I'm not in the attic..and she never gave a second thought. Again we was there for a Celebration, so we had to quickly make other arrangements, so we left. She never said let me get manager to investigate. So then, we knew, this wasn't a surprise to her. I just thought this was Horrible. And WILL NOT EAT THERE AGAIN! because ther is no way she or anybody that works there have not heard what's happening in thar ceiling/restaurant as they prepare patrons food. Unsanitary! I'm disappointed and upset that this could be happening in this legendary restaurant. Awful. Why no one have spoke of...
