Husband and I finally get a date night and we want Italian. Saw a 4.4 rating and drove out here. Service was terrible. Water was brought to us by the hostess then the waiter came to ask if we wanted anything other than water, we declined. Before I could order the starter he said “okay!” And walked away quickly, didn’t return for 10 minutes literally. We ordered everything together in case he decided to disappear again. I ordered wedding soup and zuppe de pesce. We had to ask if there is bread for the table after ordering our meals. He never apologized and said “no problem”. The wedding soup was dark and salty! It tasted like canned soup. My seafood dish came with a bland premixed seasoned tasting white fish that I did not eat, two shrimp, two mussels and three clams in a white wine butter sauce. Linguine was cooked well but again no flavor. I didn’t finish my meal nor did my husband. The waiter was oblivious to the fact that we didn’t finish our meals but offered us dessert. We kindly said no thanks can we have the bill. We had to ask for everything, he offered nothing and the food was terrible. We never get to go out and I hate that we wasted money and time. That’s how furious I am. I hate leaving reviews too because people work hard and I don’t like being mean but we spent money on a meal...
Read moreBased on a first time visit, I would suggest coming here for pasta. Arrabiata's pasta is perfectly cooked and is absolutely delicious. The sauce was fine but not special. My wife had the alfredo. It was a bit too creamy and lacked the richness that I feel defines a great alfredo. On the plus side, there is a generous amount of sauce on the dish.
I had the Chicken Oscar. The linguine with marinara side dish was good (again great pasta) but the marinara was lackluster. As for the entree, it was a very generous portion (plan on taking some home). The crab stuffing was not the highlight I was hoping it would be. In short, it was a bit like eating a crab cake made of finely shredded crab meat with too much filler. I was hoping for more crab and less filler. Were not in Boston's north end where crab is the star to this dish. The overall flavor wasn't to my liking, but that is a personal preference. Others may find it to be fine. It was just a bit too acidic for me. The cheese topping was a good highlight along with a juicy breast of chicken. We also took home two cannolis. The filling was not as sweet as I have some to expect which was...
Read moreThe food at this restaurant was generally good, but there was some inconsistency. I ordered the same dish on two separate occasions, and the taste and portion size were significantly different each time. Both times, the meal was excellent, but the inconsistency was disappointing.
The service on the floor was lacking. The waitstaff was unfriendly and unenthusiastic. They did not seem to be enjoying their jobs, and it showed. This made the atmosphere feel uncomfortable and uninviting. I was eager to finish my meal and leave.
The service at the bar was much better. The bartenders were friendly and attentive. They made me feel welcome and relaxed. The atmosphere at the bar was much more enjoyable than in the dining room.
Overall, I had a mixed experience at this restaurant. The food was good, but the service was inconsistent. I would recommend trying the food, but I would avoid dining in the main dining room. I would instead recommend sitting at the bar, where the service is...
