I returned to the Vic and once again had a great time. This time my wife and I went on a Friday evening and there were less people than on Saturdays. There were plenty of seats available in the restaurant area (where the band plays). Note that thereâs a separate bar area but if you sit there you wonât be able to enjoy the live music.
In terms of music there was a duo playing (Chris and Nick) and they were great! They played classic rock, top songs and all the good stuff. I will definitely be back next time they come back to the Vic. I believe they play there on a monthly basis.
Service was great as usual. Our waiter (I believe his name is Jason) was super friendly and the waitress who was not serving our table but who remembered us from last time is also very friendly.
Food was very tasty. Their Margherita pie is delicious ($13.95 for the large pie) and so is their fries with cheese ($3.95 for the small one which served 2 people well). I paid $10 for a pitcher of beer and my wife $6 for a glass of wine (which they refilled and didnât charge).
I wish more people knew about this place because it was a great Friday night, great weather but there wasnât a lot of people there. Not all bands that play there are as good as Chris and Nick but there are some other good bands like Red Rox and a few others. Check their Facebook or Instagram page for the line ups.
*Original review:
I visited Vic on a Saturday evening and had a great time. There was a band called RedRox playing that evening and it was great.
We arrived late (after 11pm) so there were tables available in the dining room area where the band plays. This area has some regular long tables and some high tables that seat up to 8 people. I assume earlier all tables were taken so if youâre planning on going on a Saturday evening I would suggest you arrive earlier. The band plays from 9ish to midnight and itâs a different band every weekend, check their instagram for the schedule.
Thereâs a separate bar area but people from that area canât see the band. Staff is friendly, our waitress was the best! I will return, try their food and update my review but for now they...
Read moreIf you are white and love good food then this is the spot for you. We were the only minorities in the place and everyone including the customers were sure to make it quite obvious we did not belong. I was supposed to meet someone there so we decided to at least try the food which was great. The only person nice to us was our waitress Samantha. My fiance went to the bar and the bartender made sure to steer clear of him. It is really sad that this kind of stuff still happens. People just whispering and looking over at us as if we were a joke and obviously the topic of their discussion. I will NEVER go back. I did not even wait for my friend to arrive...we decided to take the check and go to another bar not too far from there where we are always welcome with open arms and there is a great mix of people. Like I said the food is great so I will not lie about that but the hospitality is a...
Read moreI run 'The Bayonne Chess Society & Club. The owner, Al, approved me, about holding events at his spot. I hadn't been to the Vic prior. I went to check it out.
Very nice place. Large restaurant area in the back. We agreed to try out Monday nights. It went off without a hitch. Some of my members attended. Some of his regulars joined in. We are and drank as we played.
I had a cheesesteak sandwich and fries. Delicious. Prices were reasonable. People had a good time. Also had someone attend, who came to play Scrabble. There were two moms with their kids eating. Some played chess. I taught two of the kids how to play dominoes.
It's now a regular Monday event. Good place. Good food. Once atmosphere. What more...
