Elenas Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Beaumont

We went for lunch and found the parking lot was packed!! Stepped in to a very busy restaurant but were greeted and seated immediately. The person that seated us took our drink order, left menus and was back before we had a good chance to read the entire menu. In the meantime, another lady dropped off chips and salsa. We ordered the fajitas for two -on the menu it was $40 and the server said she would bring us the lunch portion and it would be plenty. It was HUGE and was $22 I think. We ate until our bellies were full and took home enough that we had fajitas for dinner that night as well…and STILL had food left!

The food came out within 15 mins of us being in the building. The service was excellent and the food is some of the best Mexican food we’ve ever had. The flavor was amazing of the steak and the chicken and the beans/soup was out of this world good!! The margaritas were a bit sweet for my taste but nice and strong. I don’t think I’ve had food IN Mexico this good! We will absolutely be back!! EVERY restaurant in the country needs to be trained by this management!! We had a most disappointing encounter with this establishment on Saturday, May 12, at 4pm. We have a young child with food allergies and sensitives. We do not go out to eat often but when we do, we know to go to only the best establishments, to make it worth it. We were excited about visiting this long time establishment, with which we have decades of fond memories, before child. As we came to the door, we saw the sign, "No outside food or drinks". Aiming to be honest and open, we walked in and asked if it were okay to bring in the dried apple chips and sweet potatoes that I had in my purse due to our child's allergies. We were told that we could not bring any food in, that was the rule. I am disappointed that the thought of replacing chips, specifically is a reason for denying service to a family. We are not big on breaking rules and had there been ANYTHING on the menu that was dairy, gluten and grain free, as a substitute we would have entertained the thought. Jury duty lunch assigned with a short turnaround time! I was headed to a fast food drive-through until I came to a stalled train on the tracks. I made an about face and pulled into the first restaurant I came to. They seated me promptly with a menu, water with lime came shortly after. I ordered the lunch Taco al Carbon. I only noticed charro beans and assumed that's what I would get but it came out with refried beans, they were very plain and not flavored. The server didn't ask me which I wanted, my fault. Normally when I order this dish it comes with two tacos, but I guess since it's a lunch item it only came with one. It was okay though because it was very full and was very tasty. The chips were fresh and hot, the salsa was good but not very hot at all. I was quite full when done. My only complaint would be that their straws are too small for the size water that they give. Either use a smaller glass or taller straw for that large of a drink. I personally feel like it's overpriced for the quality of food that...
