Came in on my birthday for THE VERY FIRST TIME off of the strength of others. The server started off great. Very friendly and everything. Even told us the strawberry/lemonade was nothing more than Minute Maid. Took our appetizer order. Said she would put that in for us. And well, I guess she did EXACTLY what she said she would. Because that was the last we saw or heard from her. During our wait, a couple came in and with in maybe two minutes were greeted with appetizers from OUR waitress (but she never took an order from them...suspect?!). Not sure if the couple were regulars but my money spends too. And I work darn hard for the things God has blessed me with. NEVER judge a book by its cover. There was a group of girls at the end of the booths that she went back and forth two times for. All the while ignoring us. At that point my time frame of waiting before saying SOMETHING was up. So, we politely got up and asked to speak with a manager. Gloria was very nice and gave us our drink order and appetizers. She took my name and phone number (although I never received a call/voicemail...so I don't know what that was about). She stated that she would let the GM know. And that the next time we came in to ask for her. Well, the next time was today 9/9/19. I told the hostess very briefly about the past occurrence. Our waitress was very nice, as she was there when everything happened and assured a better experience. We ordered our beverages. A little time passed and she asked if we wanted our appetizers from last time. I informed her we did receive them and simply wanted our meals. There was no need to get them again, as far as I was concerned. I feel as though the wait time was exactly the same BUT we were trying to be patient in hopes that the experience would be better. The food was good. I ordered fried shrimp tacos and my mom got the shrimp and fish basket. Gloria as well as our waitress came at different times through the meal if we were satisfied. Gloria asked about dessert to which my mom agreed to the strawberry cheesecake. As we were gathering our things to go our waitress asked if we had gotten our receipt. From all the hoopla Gloria made the other night about the service one would think the meal would have been on them. We were not out to get a free meal by ANY MEANS but poor service (and on my birthday) should have warranted more than the free dessert. And I wonder if that dessert was offered so that the meal would not have been free. I will never know and will not be back. I do NOT recommend them off of my experiences. But to...

Main complaints... There was no one available to greet and seat us at the entrance. You have to walk through an area of people dinning to another entryway to cashier. A greeter for the first door to seat us and get drink orders right away would make this establishment solid. (With a few handicap cosmetic fixes to outdoor patio and parking lot) Waitress checked on us often but seemed in a rush. Possibly due to the distance between tables. We sat in first dinning area. Her tables aside from ours were inside the second entryway. (Big distance between and no open view to the other side.) Not her fault. She was definitely doing her best. The food? Well the Queso GROSS! I was regretting going once I saw the Queso wasn't what I expected but when my crab nachos hit the table and I took my first bite YUM but I ordered crab only no lettuce or peppers with sliced avocado instead of guacamole. I was served crab and shrimp and peppers.🤦🏼‍♀️ ( I have ulcers in fact I had just been discharged from hospital) I'd been searching for crab nachos for weeks and am very picky about certain dishes. They were very generous with the REAL crab meat! It was worth it even though I had to pick through it. My S.O. had tacos and was satisfied with his meal and the service. Please change your Queso recipe! The cheese is a huge no! Cheap cheese that doesn't melt well with other ingredients. You can see in photo we ate the chips as our appetizer but the Queso bowl is still...

While the restaurant is busy and seems like it would be good, it was a total disappointment. Sat immediately but noticed a ton of dead flies on the window sill, ok it's the beach, let it go. Got drinks and ordered an appetizer, got the stuffed mushrooms, were not good and let server know, definately not worth even half of what they charged, mostly breading with no crab meat or even flavor and two tiny shrimp, coated in a cheese sauce. We ordered the blackened redfish, ahi tuna, and the fish, shrimp and oyster combo thinking fish camp it will be good. The blackened redfish came out dried, overcooked and inedible. The sides left more to be desired. The ahi tuna while ok, was also very dry and only ate half. The fried fish were good, the only part of the meal I could recommend, however the shrimp were overcooked and tough, the oysters were inedible (tasted rancid) and husband and son both spit out what they tried. Waited for over 2.5 hours for this meal, had to ask 3 times and wait over 45 minutes for refills and would have been better off going to McDonald's on the island or hunt brothers pizza. Spoke with manager and were not charged for 2 meals, however, another table who also had problems told us the manager and wait staff were bad mouthing us. Completely unprofessional and really seemed irritated to have unhappy customers. We won't be back. Even with 2 meals comped paid 55 for mushrooms, one dinner, two beers...

TEX MEX + CAJUN FUSION!? I heard stories of a place based in Beaumont called “Tia Juanita’s Fish Camp” that is doing a fusion I have never come across before: Mexican + Cajun. Story goes that a man named Ricky Martinez opened the first one in 2014 in Beaumont and since then they have expanded with locations all over Southeast Texas. I went to the original location to check it out! The place has “come as you are” vibes with a ton of bright colors and several frozen beverage machines behind a bar. The menu was better than I had imagined with items like Fried Cajun rolls stuffed with shrimp étouffée, smoked boudin balls, fried alligator, Boudin Quesadillas, Blackened Redfish Pontchartrain and some wild looking Cajun seafood enchiladas. You may not visit this place if you are trying to make amazing dietary decisions, lol. Jessica actually found some healthy items on the menu with some searching! The whole concept was just FUN and I found myself wishing we had one here in DFW, somewhere in the area. Maybe that will happen one day! If you haven’t checked then out already Tia Juanita’s is a refreshing twist on Tex-Mex that feels authentic to the blended cultures and cuisines of southeast Texas. Highly recommended!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a fun atmosphere...we really liked the vibe! We're on our way to Florida, staying overnight and stopped in for dinner. So glad we did. Everything we tried was delicious. Dinner for the 2 of us was one Pistolettes, 2 large boudin balls, 1/2 lb. of boiled jumbo shrimp, a cup of seafood gumbo and some of the best char-grilled oysters we've ever had...yum!! The Pistolettes roll is crispy on the outside and filled with a nice, spicy shrimp etoufee. I could have had 2, but then I wouldn't have had room for anything else. The shrimp were HUGE...2 bites per shrimp huge. The cocktail sauce included a dollop of fresh horseradish on top. I did have to wait a bit for the shrimp...turns out it didn't get entered into the system. Our very apologetic waitress, put the order in and kept an eye on it to make sure I got it ASAP. She had such a sunny disposition that you couldn't possibly get mad...we enjoyed chatting with her. The boudin balls had lots of flavor, but are reeeeally filling. The gumbo was loaded with shrimp and flavor. Oh, we got bread pudding to go...wonderful, rich and dense. Thanks for a great meal and friendly, happy service!
