We were a group of six from out of town. Waitress greeted us promptly and got our drinks. She took our order and at that point everything was going good. The appetizers came out promptly as they should which were good. Wouldn't say great but good. Next was our main course. 3 of us had ordered prime rib. Two were medium rare and mine I ordered medium. The waitress brought out our main course and all were over cooked. I did say something to the waitress and told her she had forgot my sour cream for my baked potato, and two knives for the prime rib. Also, three of us were missing our side of fries. She then blamed it on the cooks and said she would be right back. Well the two that got their full meals were almost done eating by the time we got what we were missing. Our waitress never once asked how our meal was or how things were tasting from start to finish. I asked to speak to the manager and he only asked if he could bring me something else. I said no it is too late everyone in our group is done eating. He then said I will discount your meal. Now mind you I had only taken about 3 bites of my prime rib and didn't take it home. His discount was 25% of my meal. Wasn't looking for a free meal but could of done better. Will never be going here again and best believe I won't be recommending this...
Read moreThis has been my husband's and my favorite spot to have lunch after spending the morning at Horicon Marsh, which we do often. We always eat in the bar area, which has a comfortable ambience and attractive, appropriate decor. We haven't tried the dining room, but it also looks very nice. The entire place (including the bathrooms) is always spotlessly clean. We have had excellent service each time we have been here. We have had dinner entrees on one occasion, and they were good, but we generally prefer to have sandwiches. The sandwiches come with soup, and we've had at least three different kinds (clam chowder, chicken tortilla, and French onion), all of which were very good and appeared to be made on-site as opposed to out of a can. The sandwiches don't disappoint, they are hearty portions and good quality ingredients. Most recently we both had the turkey club, and it was made with nice big pieces of carved turkey breast. We've also had the fries, which are thicker than fast food but thinner than steak fries and were cooked perfectly, and side salads, which have a nice amount of toppings for being just a side dish.
In summary, Park Ave has very good food, great service, great atmosphere, and...
Read moreWe are from out of state and are in Beaver Dam once a year in the spring and always make a point of eating here.
Last year we got there late on our first night with another couple and as we walked in we discovered it was 10 minutes before closing time for the restaurant. We felt bad for even walking in and knew it was not likely we would get served, which we fully understood when the hostess explained that to us. We were asking her where else in town we might be able to get a good meal at that late hour, when the owner walked up and got involved in the conversation. Shortly thereafter he said to the hostess to seat us in the bar side and take our order, he would cook it for us himself.
You could tell they were winding down in there as well and the last thing they would suspect is 4 people ordering meals. The whole staff took it in stride and treated us like royalty. The food was great as always and we made it back again before leaving town.
The 4 of us will be back in town in a couple weeks and we will be eating there 2 or 3 times without a doubt. Nothing like an independently owned business if you want good food...
