Oh my goodness! This is definitely a new favorite!! I canât believe we waited so long to try this place. I knew of their other location further south, but not about this one. We stumbled upon it the other night when we were on our way home from playtime at Rotary Park. We have other ice cream we really enjoy getting in this city. But this not only provides CUSTARD (and glaciers!!), it also provides that perfect summer experience! Order at the window and then enjoy your treat at an umbrella table on the patio or across the little parking lot on the playground.
For my 2.5 year old we ordered the worms and dirt - a small cup with a little scoop of chocolate custard topped with crush Oreos and gummy worms. This kid loves those toppings and the custard is soft enough that digging in right away is easy (as opposed to the hrs scoop ice cream that sometimes provides a challenge for him).
Hubby got a sundae that had chocolate sauce, marshmallow cream and crumbled Oreos. He wasnât much for it. In my opinion, it was a disappointing fudge sauce (thin and âfakeâ flavor) that ruined it.
But we were both head over heels for my glacier creation! I chose one of the flavors of the day - Turtle Something. Yes, thatâs really what it called. It was a caramel custard with swirls of chocolate and pecans (they were small and there werenât too many, which is perfect for my personal preference). Then I added cake batter, Reeseâs Cups and peanut butter. While I didnât really taste the cake batter at all, it was loaded with a full and satisfying balance of chocolate caramel sweetness and salty peanut butter. It was mixed evenly throughout and my size small cup was absolutely filled to the brim! 5/5. Definitely would return and get the same again. Of course, theyâll have different flavors of the day. But if theyâre anything like this, Iâll be very happy!
We all canât wait to return. Hubby especially because next time heâs definitely going to get a crazy glacier creation...

Read moreCustard is good, customer service went down and now gone. Weâve been going to Ritterâs for 15 years almost weekly in the Summer and monthly in the Winter. We have three kids. Everyone has been a fan. Itâs been our neighborhood ice cream stand. It has always been observed that the cars and customers that arrive Right at close (9pm in this case) that the employee set up cones for the drive thru showing itâs closed and then an employee kind of stands at the back of the line to show they are closed. This evening, we arrived at 9pm exactly. The cones were not placed yet. We were in line at 9p. There were three customer groups in line including us. Our kids were picking what they wanted. We stood there 5 mins until a curly haired kid came out at 9:05 and told the three of us these exact words âYou all have to goâ. The first group stated âthey were hereâ so the employee immediately said âok you are goodâ but âthe rest of you need to goâ. Before hearing anything else, that was it. No apologies, no sympathy, just direct âget outâ language. Wow. I could not believe it. Everyone was so disappointed. We left as firmly instructed to do so.
Sad as it is, we are done. We will take our family time and money to Jet Freeze, DQ, or Graeters....
