I have stayed at the resort a few times and visited this restaurant multiple times. It was never great. Tonight is my last time dining at the Crystal Room. The food is bland and the service is very slow and unapologetic. We started off with the stuffed mushroom starter, which is described in the menu as having "ricotta and garlic." The mushroom came and looked like a plate of brown meat. I tried it and I didn't know what I was eating out of the mushroom. It was tasteless but textured. The server said it was another kind of mushroom ground up and put into this kind of bigger mushroom. When asked where the ricotta and garlic were, she said it must have been sprinkled on top. She admitted the menu was misleading and they have this issue sometimes. I also got the french onion soup. It didn't have cheese or bread in it and it was thicker than you would expect for something without flavor. We asked where the bread was and we were told it doesn't come with the meal, but we could buy it per person for $2/each. This wasn't on the menu, so we didn't know we needed to order it. It took about 15 minutes to come out. If you pay for bread, you'd expect fresh bread, but we got cold and hard rolls that were definitely not made for us. Thankfully, our entrees of the sea bass and the Kansas city strip came out fine. Our sides were sadly bland. The server, however, avoided us for the rest of the meal for asking about the mushroom, so we had slower service than everyone around us. The woman next to us had it figured out when she immediately said "I need salt" upon tasting her potatoes. It is possible the chef simply does not use butter. The restaurant ended up comping the soup and the mushroom, which was nice. We were there for well over two 1/4 hours. There are some awesome restaurants in town that I'm going to try...
Read moreI was really looking forward to a meal here, but it just didn't meet my expectations for the price. The ambiance is very nice and the food was decent, but for the price they charge I just thought it would be a more impressive experience.
I started off with the potato leek soup, which I highly recommend. It's not only reasonably priced, but the portion was good and the soup was delicious!
For our entrees we got salmon and their specialty chicken dish that had some sort of a mustard aspect to it. The salmon was good, but nothing crazy. They did a very good job crusting the salmon however the dish was very simple. Seeing how it was $30, there just wasn't anything that really stood out to me.
I tried my wife's chicken dish, and it was just pretty bland. The presentation also left a lot to be desired as it was sort of just a bowl with a bunch of mush in it. After digging around awhile, she determined there weren't any gnocchi in it so she asked the server. She said oh they must have forgot to put it in, and proceeded to bring back what appeared to be fried gnocchi? They kind of tasted like a potato ball vs a gnocchi.
We got the chai tea creme brulee for dessert, and while that was pretty good it was just very overwhelming with the chai tea taste. I love a good chai tea, and I by the middle I just couldn't take another bite of it.
All in all it was a decent meal, but not something I would have expected to pay the 90...
Read moreThis was our second time visiting The Crystal Room during our stay at the Omni.
Last year — food/ drinks were excellent, our server was great & wonderful ambiance!
We made restaurant reservations months in advance, with hotel reservations (knowing renovations were happening — we were excited to visit again…)
This year — very disappointing overall. First off, we were sat at 8:20 — sat there until 9:10 without drinks but had bread. By 9:30, we had one appetizer. Bright lighting across the dining room. Food menu completely changed from the previous year — & in our opinions, it was not executed very well. Pork belly was burnt & caviar was very fishy. Drinks were average but pricy.
After this, we decided to pay our tab & head over to The Omni’s other restaurant, The...
