UPDATE:
I actually called Maricela, who responded below less than an hour after I posted my review. She apologized profusely and then was very clear about going over the menu items with me. For any vegetarians out there, here's what you need to know for now (they've just taken over the restaurant, so there may be changes in the future - I'll circle back in a few weeks):
Flour Tortillas: Butter, but no lard Corn Tortillas: Butter, but no lard Refried Beans: Cooked with bacon fat (this may change in the future) Borracho Beans: Cooked with bacon fat (this may change in the future) Rice: Cooked with chicken stock (this may change in the future) Queso: No chicken stock
Some enchilada sauces have chicken base, but the: -Verde sauce is vegetarian -Ranchero sauce is vegetarian -Chipotle sauce is vegetarian -Table salsa is vegetarian
I haven't eaten here, and will wait to do so to see if the beans and rice become vegetarian so that I can order a full meal. However I'm updating my rating because Maricela was SO quick to respond, sincerely apologetic, and VERY thorough in her responses, so I felt like I was being given accurate information.
I hope that the beans and rice become vegetarian, and the flour and corn tortillas are switched to a supplier that doesn't use butter (not a huge deal for me, as I'm not vegan, but my sister is, and we go out to eat together often), but it's nice to feel confident that what what you're eating (or not eating), is based on actual info, rather than just guesses.
Called and spoke to Maria who confidently flip flopped on whether the tortillas were vegetarian or not (contained lard). She put me on hold for ages then came back on the phone and told me the exact opposite of what she'd said previously. I pointed that out and she transferred me to Maggie, who then confidently told me the OPPOSITE of what Maria had said.
I asked if there was anyone there who knew what they were talking about and she said: No.
I asked what her name was and she went silent. I asked again and she said: "Okay, thank you so much have a great day!" and then she hung up on me.
I called back and got Maria again, who told me the other woman had gone to the bathroom, but her name was Maggie.
Maria said she would "call the guy who makes the tortillas" but I said that I also needed to know if the rice, beans, queso, and enchilada sauce were vegetarian (these often contain chicken stock or pork). She told me to hold for ANOTHER 5-10 minutes while she called him, and then she...
Read moreWent to this restaurant with high expectations, but was sadly disappointed and disgusted... when my husband and I walked in the man at the host stand sat us at a shared 10 person booth that faced the wall with another couple sitting on the other end. Mind you the whole restaurant was empty. He could’ve at least sat us at one more table over. It was very awkward and you could tell the other group was very uncomfortable as well. All the people that continued to come in the host told to just sit wherever they liked. After sitting at the table for a few minutes the man who sat us came over and rather rudely asked if we figured out what we wanted to drink yet. And instead of him asking from the side of the table he came up behind us where we had to turn around to face him to give him our drink orders. Finally a different waitress came over to take our food order, and the whole time we waited for our food the man who sat us was just walking around the whole restaurant coughing and hacking up a lung. Walking back into the kitchen we could just here him sneezing and sounding like he was trying to cough something up. We lost our appetite to say the least. Tried to take a couple bites of food but just couldn’t. Couldn’t even enjoy the tea because the phlegm guy was carrying around the tea pitcher. And clearly saw that he never went to wash his hands. None of the other staff was very talkative or friendly either. Ended up just paying for the meals...
Read moreIt had been awhile since I ate here for dinner. Was craving Mexican food and since our first option was really busy we decided to come here. Well in the end we were disappointed with our decision.
We were sat in a spot where only 2 other tables were sat. Not too bad. The waitress took several minutes to come and take our drink order not a big deal. She took the order and we asked for Chile Con Queso. It took a bit for it to come. We ran out of chips kind of fast and asked for more and took forever to get them and had to ask another waitress. At this time we noticed that there were 3 different waitresses working the area. Ours would disappear.
She took our food order and the food came out in a decent amount of time. But my plate was a little cold. My fiancé ordered fajitas with shrimp and the plate wasn't sizzling or smoking like it should. He only got 2 tiny shrimp and like maybe 5 small pieces of beef fajitas. It was hilariously sad how little food he got for a meal that should've been more substantial. He said he tasted good but wished it had more.
The service was lacking. The food was subpar. Will not...
