Update from 2019: ordered French onion soup, right before server is ready to bring it out, she's told they are out. She apologized and offered lemon rice soup or salad. We choice the soup once again. She returns. They are out of lemon rice soup. What choice do we have other than the salad? Salad it is. Limp iceberg lettuce and drenched in salad dressing. She returns. One person in our party of 4 ordered salmon. The server was told they were out, RIGHT before everyone else's meals are ready. At this point, my friend says "I don't want anything else", she is disgusted, disappointed and upset. In the meantime, one of the gentlemen in our party used the restroom. The men's restroom was littered with toilet paper on what was clearly a urine soaked floor. At this point, I felt the need to say something. I approached two women who I can only assume were hostesses. Both were appalled at the apparent restroom condition and said it would be addressed immediately. Although neither of them ever walked away to get someone in there to clean. I told them how our poor waitress was given the task of informing us, 3 times, that they had run out of soup, two kinds, and a main entree of salmon. They stated that this has happened in the past. Seriously!? Shouldn't you learn from past mistakes? I know people will criticize me for being so harsh. Well, I have worked in the restaurant business, I have also been an asst. mgr of a restaurant. This is NOT how you run a restaurant. No communication from kitchen to servers. A mgr should have been telling us the 2nd and 3rd time they ran out of our food. The server didn't screw up. Don't expect her to try and fix something she had no control over. And she was awesome. For being so crudely put in that situation, she handled it well. So back to my conversation with the hostesses...I told them this was my boyfriends birthday and it has unfortunately been a disaster since we sat down. They said they would sing and bring him something. I asked that they please not do that, while the gesture is nice, the mood at our table had changed. Not to bad, but at this point we didn't feel like celebrating. They just seemed very unconcerned and made a lot of excuses. They just came back from being closed for a week so they ran out of everything. Well they should have anticipated they would be busy, they are after all, an extremely popular favorite locally. Our entrees are served. Beef Tornedos has always been my favorite. Not tonight. Garlic rounds were half the size they used to be, which caused them to be soggy. The entire plate was completely covered in Bernaise sauce, which it normally is "drizzled". It was so much, I was unable to eat it. For some reason beyond my comprehension, they disregarded my request, and came out with a little bowl of ice cream and a candle, sang, even though I said it wasn't a good idea. The kicker is, we all walked out to leave, one of our party went back into the restroom and it had not been touched, and in fact was worse. 2 hrs of disappointment. This was planned weeks ago, and we we all were so looking forward to our meal. I generally would chalk it up to "a bad day" and give it another shot. I definitely will never return, and that makes me sad. More than the disappointment of our meals and entire experience, I am saddened that our server was expected to bear this unfortunate news to her table, not once, but 3 times. Clearly it was not of her control. A manager should have been at our table after the first issue with the onion soup.
2019: Went on a Wednesday night for the burger special. Great meal. Server was very harsh and didn't seem interested in waiting on groups that were ordering the burgers instead of one of the more upscale meals. I would definitely return but would request seating outside of her service area. Beware, there is no refills on soda pop, only...

The server came and asked how everything tasted and as a server myself in Chicago at top notch restaurants knows that if customer isn’t happy for any reason you make them happy. I told my mom to tell him she didn’t like it .. it’s her anniversary she should have a meal she enjoys so she did. First thing he says is ..”you don’t like it?.. it’s been prepared the same way forever “.. we’ll she had never had it and doesn’t Like corn meal and that’s how it’s prepared should be written on menu!.. so then he asked if she wanted something else .. she then ordered pork chop .. he then returned from kitchen and asked my dad if he liked the perch my dad wasn’t thrilled but said it was ok .. he then offered my dad to take it which we thought was nice instead of throwing away. But when we got the bill there it was $25.25 x 2 for perch!.. I then asked why we were charged when she didn’t like it ?.. he replied it’s not our fault she doesn’t like it . Then my question is why come ask how everything’s tasting if you don’t want to resolve issue !?.. we then asked to speak to manager /owner and was flat out told he wouldn’t come Out!.. horrible customer service!..I’ve worked in industry my whole life 43 years to be exact every restaurant I’ve worked in we remove food that people don’t like whatever and get them a replacement !.. it’s not worth losing customers for $25 perch dinner .. we will never return !!! Come to find out when I went to hostess to ask to speak to manager the owners son was waiting on us!.. no worries princess I will tell everyone about your horrible service !.. karma will take over .. thank you for ruining my parents 59th wedding anniversary!.. your son is horrible...
Read moreOn my recent trip to celebrate a friend's birthday, the hostess was warm and accommodating. Minutes after we got to our table, the busboy greeted us and filled our water glasses.
Our waitperson asked for our drink order, and thoroughly explained the specials. A pro.
After he delivered the drinks he asked if we wanted the relish tray, which inexplicably was an upsell. Birthday lady wanted it, so be it. We placed our order for the highest priced item on the menu, Chateaubriand, that she remembered having on her first date with her husband years ago. Neither my friend nor I remembered our reading glasses which we joked about all night.
The waiter knew this and asked soup or salad. It was not mentioned that the French onion soup was an upsell we assumed it was a choice.
We ordered a second round of drinks which took quite a while to arrive at the table. Quite a long while. Yet our waiter was busy busy with other tables whisking past us without even a glance to our table. Our glasses and plates were piling up. The pro we hoped for all but abandoned us.
Finally when the entree arrived there was no place for it. Both of us being in the restaurant business were just amazed by the inefficiency. Sloppy service at this price point is inexcusable. Our waiter even asked another waiter for help in carving and presenting the meat.
The FOOD was fabulous. Steak was fork tender and bursting with flavor. Each of the vegetables was perfectly cooked and our starches were perfect. Kudos to the kitchen.
We decided to take half of our entrees home to our respective spouses.
It was a nice touch to have the birthday candle celebration to top off the night.
We tipped absolutely...
