I ordered two grilled chicken sandwiches. When I pull up the window, I can see them sticking two frozen chicken filets into a microwave.
While I am watching this, one of the people in the kitchen is cursing up a storm - I am not offended by it, but I do think it's inappropriate, especially for a family establishment. If someone had their kid in the car with them, it would be an issue.
The person working the window then asked me to pull back around and go through the drive-thru again to wait for my food, saying it would be ready when I got back. It wasn't, and I had to wait another 5 minutes (which I don't mind if the food is worth it). She was not very friendly.
I get the sandwiches home. They are supposed to have a toasted bun, lettuce, tomato and mayo per the menu. The bun is not toasted and soggy, there is no lettuce and tomato, the mayo is orange colored (???) and overly abundant, and when I tried to cut my sandwich in half, my knife couldn't get through the chicken. It looked as though something had thrown up on the sandwich. I couldn't even get myself to try it.
There food has been inconsistent in the past depending on what you order (their hot dogs are great), but i have never gotten a meal this terrible from them before. Whoever was working today didn't care. That said, I might not think I needed to care if I worked at a place that advertises grilled chicken and then microwaves a precooked filet. Just don't include it on the menu if you're going to do this.
(The green in the picture is pickles, which is the one part of my order they followed...

From the moment you unwrap your order, you know you're in for something special. The BBQ Western Burger double burger patties, cheese and onion rings was an absolute knockout—juicy patties, perfectly melted cheese, crispy onion rings, and that signature cornmeal bun? Every bite was stacked with flavor and nostalgia.
The loaded waffle fries were everything you'd want—crispy, smothered in cheese, and topped with bits of bacon that added just the right kick. The mini tacos, generously layered with melted cheese and served with sides of cool sour cream and zesty salsa—the perfect handheld snack that added a fun twist to the meal. It’s a treat you’ll want to share… or maybe not. 😉
We enjoyed our meal at the picnic tables outside, and it was the perfect summer day combo: sunshine, fresh air, and food made with love. Buddy’s is the kind of local gem you want to keep coming back to—and I will.

Read moreBUDDY’S DRIVE-IN located in the town of Beecher, IL is like a walk from the past. If you enjoy the small old fashioned feel of simpler times this may be your go to place. You can spot BUDDY’S towering sign from a distance. The drive-in serves up burgers, chicken & sandwiches, root beer floats, green rivers, slushies & of course ice cream cones. There may be a wait as the food is prepared/cooked when you place your order and not beforehand. The prices are affordable and the portions are good. I stopped in because of the car show & was charmed by this small unassuming drive-in. Charlie Brown graces the outdoor patio area for great photo snaps. There also is a jungle gym for your kids or grandkids. The car/cruise night was nostalgic & a great gathering space for car guys n gals. Any car older than the 90’s was invited to come by & show off. This is a small place with walkup window service and pickup at the next window. I think you will enjoy BUDDY’S Drive-in for its charm & I would...
