I went twice (maybe 6-8 months ago now), and both times I had the same experience. Lovely place, and some of my favorite table salsa around, plus relatively authentic elote en vaso (which is a rarity outside of the city), and the food seemed like technically good quality and clean ingredients. All that is 5-star. But the main food flavor was just "pretty good". Not bad at all, but just... not a lot of flavor, especially the meat, and I tried 4 different meats between my 2 trips, and all the meat I tried was just a little bland tbh. That aspect brought the experience to 4 stars for me. Again, not bad, but a place rated this high (4.8 stars at the time of writing) just made me expect better. Where I live it's only a few minutes further away for me to go to Cherokee Street in St. Louis where I can get much more flavorful Mexican food for cheaper. So, all that to say, its pretty good, and I'd probably come more often if I lived somewhere closer without better options, but I wouldn't drive a long distance expecting a 4.8 star quality flavor out of this food (which I’m guessing is what happened with people leaving very low reviews). Meanwhile the people leaving 5 star reviews are probably used to small-town Tex Mex, which this is definitely an improvement over. So yeah, decent place but nothing special if you’re already acquainted with...
Read moreVery, very friendly staff. The place itself was very clean, and I seen staff clean tables multiple times during my visit, so the place has good hygiene. The staff were also dressed nice and looked clean themselves.
As good as the staff is the food. They had really good food. I had the marinated pork street tacos and they were among the best I have ever had. The selection of drinks were good too.
The atmosphere was good. The place visually looked good. They had decorative things but they didn't over do it like a lot of places do. So that made the dining area feel bigger.
I was going to slightly complain about the price but thinking about it more, the price is equal to most other restaurants that are not fast food. So I'd say the price was reasonable. The food averaged between 14-18 dollars for a drink and a meal. Add a few extra if you order an appetizer.
But I have no complaints. Good service, good hygiene practices, good "vibe" inside the restaurant, and...

I spend at least $50 every week there even if its just buying tacos for people to try. If you haven't been there you need to make a point to go!
Edit:2024 Tony’s Tacos has evolved from my favorite Taco Truck to my favorite family restaurant. Yes, Tony’s Tacos is a traditional Mexican restaurant with their own unique taste and tradition to all of your classic favorites. Highly recommended the Asada Fries as a starter, Al Pastor Gringas, with a Lingua Taco, and a nice cold Jarrito to take it down with. My wife and I absolutely love the Asada Fries they introduced us to in 2022. If you’re looking for a family restaurant that has great service, greater food, and an amazing atmosphere you’ve found it! I highly...
