I had a really wonderful experience here about two weeks ago and just realized I forgot to review them, so here we are. 😂 My friends and I came in during the morning rush and were still seated immediately at the back of the restaurant. It was well lit, clean, and everyone was friendly. I got the Bill’s Senior Plate, one of my friends got a plain waffle and a hot chocolate, and my other friend got the Teenager’s Plate. Everything was great- hot food, nothing soggy or overly sweet. The sausages in particular were on the smaller side- this definitely isn’t a place where you’ll be taking home leftovers. I didn’t get a chance to take a photo but the hot chocolate my friend ordered had a swirl of whipped cream as tall as the mug itself which made them laugh. I’ve included photos of my food in this review, along with photos of the current menu if you’d like to take a look at all the options plus pricing. I would consider this restaurant moderately mobility aid accessible- I left my rollator in my car today because I was too tired to lift it out of the trunk, but I’m not sure how much space I would’ve had. During a quieter part of the day when chairs are mainly pushed in, I think it would have been fine. There are no stairs to enter the restaurant. For parking: About a dozen spots shared between Pancake Corral and some adjacent businesses. There was a disabled parking spot too. In terms of customer service: Our server was Irlanda and she was incredibly attentive to all her tables (that I could see). She made sure we all had water, coffee, condiments, etc. During a lull in the breakfast rush, we got to chatting a little bit and when I mentioned that I used to work food service and that I wasn’t a huge fan of doing it, she started talking about how much she loves this place. Lots of great things to say about management, team morale, and how the schedule is set up. As someone who’s worked food service (and still works customer service), it made me really happy to see someone in the same profession be so happy about where they’re at. The team is really what makes or breaks a place, and it seems like Irlanda is gonna be there for a long time. Kudos to all of you for making the restaurant such a good experience for each other. 😊

The location is perfect to walk/ hike around the Mercer slough trails before/ after. It is 5 minutes from the educational center nearby. The diner has an old school cozy vibe and is known for its pancakes. The staff was very accommodating and got their outdoor seating ready for us to sit with our dog. What we tried: 1. The strawberry pancake: these are crepes that come with their house made strawberry compote and whipped cream. A popular item and it is delicious! 2. Hashbrown omlette: thin crust of hashbrown crust, very flaky with an omelette in between and slightly melted American cheese slices on top. Comes with salsa, sour cream and a buttered English muffin. Very tasty! My husband also ordered their German sausage on the side and liked it. 3. Sourdough pancakes (not pictured): a medium stack of 3. Comes with maple syrup and a salty white whipped butter (so good!). I got the house made lingonberry compote with it. I had the pancakes with the compote and the salted white whipped butter - soo good! Sweet and tangy ( compote) and tiny bit salty with the butter. Enjoyed the combo! Bonus: they got doggy bone shaped pancakes for our dog! She gobbled it up before I could take a photo!! We sat outdoors and it was a mix of sunny and pleasant (with a jacket). Made for a perfect brunch for us! Excellent service.

I absolutely love this small breakfast diner. It's really popular with locals, which is one of the reasons I love it so much--you see a lot of familiarity and love from all the servers and staff. Their breakfast options are all heavenly, and very good on portion sizes. By which I mean you'll leave satisfied--not lacking and not overly stuffed. The seating is a little cramped, but it's to-be-expected for such a small space that caters to the crowds they get. Turnover is pretty fast though, so you won't have to wait too long even during their peak hours (and it's honestly worth the wait anyway). My favorite menu items are the strawberry pancakes (they're more like crepes) and the lady's plate. It's just your standard breakfast fare, but I add the pancakes to sweeten it a little. Other things to note: they have a bathroom. They do have some seating that is wheelchair accessible and a nice ramp entrance. Parking can be a little difficult, its limited spots but there's usually a space available whenever I go. The only difficult time would be during peak hours (roughly between 9:30am-11am). Recommended for all ages. It's not really a tourist spot, and to be fair, it's nothing special. But they're local, delicious, and consistent!

Three Dollars for No Butter, No Respect for Customers

If I may ask—since when did not wanting butter and powdered sugar on a pancake become a luxury worth $3? That’s not a customization; it’s subtraction. Are your kitchen instructions printed in gold ink?

But let’s move on to something more important than overpriced omissions—basic human respect. Every weekend, without fail, I order from your restaurant. And every weekend, without fail, I walk in and am greeted not with a “hello,” not with a “welcome,” but with, “Are you a driver?” It’s honestly heartwarming to see how committed your staff are to not acknowledging their regular customers. Even when I show the order, my name, the order screen, and possibly my dental records—I still get the full interrogation and a stare-down like I’m auditioning for a role in Ocean’s Eleven.

I was told this is because you’ve had issues giving orders to the wrong people. Fair. But here’s a plot twist: I’ve already been a victim twice because your staff handed my food to someone else. So the solution? Apparently not more careful checking, but treating actual paying customers with suspicion and condescension. Genius.

And let’s address the elephant in the room—because clearly something in your tone, your glances, and your little side conversations changes depending on who walks through that door. Whether it’s skin color or just a tired stereotype about “drivers,” you treat people differently. And that’s not just bad service—it’s a bad look.

Newsflash: being a driver does not make someone undeserving of eye contact, a hello, or a moment of patience. What I find offensive isn’t just the repeated “are you a driver” line, but the underlying message: that anyone who might be a driver isn’t worth treating like a customer, let alone a human being.

Last time, I was made to wait 20 minutes in silence. When I asked, I was met with a flat “soon.” No apology. No accountability. Just the type of warmth you reserve for inanimate objects.

If customer loyalty means being profiled, ignored, and made to feel unwelcome, then congratulations—you’ve nailed it. Until then, I hope your pancakes are fluffier than...

Went there is the morning for breakfast and coffee. I got greeted nicely and sat right away. They got the coffee going and even took my order in good time. The food was also delivered in good time but from there, the waiter never checked on me again and they were only moderately busy. They had a coffee girl going around but when she saw my cup 3/4 still filled she didn’t even bother to ask if I want it topped off. She was gone before I could ask so I never bothered with a refill. When I went to pay and handed him my AmEx he stated they didn’t take American Express without apologizing, only waited for me to give another form of payment. That didn’t sit well after his team not checking on me. He didn’t even ask how my meal was but oddly enough asked “how ya doing” when I first brought the check to get ring up, as if he was stuck in a mode of greeting new customers. If this was his way of asking how my meal was it was odd to say the least. I dug out another card and advised him they didn’t charge that much more for AmEx and he didn’t bother apologizing at that point (even though I just gave him another opportunity) and didn’t say another word like have a nice day after I finished paying (with a 20% tip that I regret leaving after writing up all the negative vs positive points). Parking is minimal. 5 spots on the far side, that you can barely see pulling in. Most likely employees from here and the store next to them fill this up. The rest is shared parking that is in front of the next door building with the cleaners and shoe repair, so it can get filled up during peak times. I was in between meeting with clients on Mercer island and went a little out of my way to come here since I wanted a good breakfast. If it’s convenient I might come here again for the good food but not for the mediocre service and less than stellar attitude from the cashier. Pricing is what you expect from restaurants in this area which is slightly on...
