This place is more up and down than a roller coaster. When it's good it's one of the best hands-down places in Bell County. The few times that it's been bad there is a man at the window that takes the money that for whatever reason that crew doesn't cook as good or prepare the food like the original. On Monday night August 12th approx. 6:00 p.m. we had a to-go order of mini fajita Taco plates and charro beans. Taco meat was not fresh and was reheated with very crunchy pieces and dark in color and the beans had a very sour vinegar ketchup kind of flavor and made us gag before throwing it in the trash. A few weeks ago on a Sunday night it was the original crew and it was absolutely delicious. I think the owner should really pay attention to this either retrain the people that are not as good as the original or getting new crew that can handle. Charging customers full price and giving them old food is unacceptable not to mention dangerous because they can get sick.....
Update: 11/11/2023 What happened compadres? Used to be the best. On a recent visit we got what tasted like reheated microwaved food. The meat was darkish grayish color and was rubbery in texture not fresh and tortillas were tough. Beans were super salty. The employee almost forgot my beans which would have actually been a favor. Also almost forgot the spoons and drinks. They were super disorganized this time. Didn't even offer me a drink holder. I had to ask for it and he fumbled around and could not find one. Very disappointing especially on a saturday afternoon. They should know better especially since we were the only customers. You would think tacos would be fresh on a weekend not left over from the day before.
2021ish when it was 5 stars...... Damn good tacos. This place puts almost about every Bell County restaurant on the map to shame. They know how to get it done and they do it right every time. Food is fresh, hot, and delicious. They only accept cash but the minor inconvenience of driving to an ATM is a small sacrifice for the reward of amazing Norteño style tacos. Wish it was closer but we don't mind driving that far because it's worth every time. Wish the combos were a little bigger because sometimes little picky eaters want to grab your tacos when you get home. Wish they offered a 5 taco combo that included the beans on the side. Be sure to support a local business that is serving great food. Leave the nasty fast food drive-through window in the rear...

Read moreI grew up in a border city in Texas, spending weekends visiting family in Mexico. We enjoyed incredible homemade food and wonderful memories there, but some of my best experiences were in the local plazas, savoring authentic Mexican street tacos. Those memories set a high bar for every street taco I try.
Well, I can confidently say that these tacos at "Los Compadres" are THE BEST street tacos I’ve had on this side of the U.S. border. Every elelemenfrom the tortillas (corn) to the perfectly seasoned fillings (several options) and the vibrant salsas—is spot on. This truck truly captures the essence of a great street taco experience.
If you find yourself in the Belton area, do yourself a favor and stop here. I drive 40 minutes for these, and they're worth every mile. I rarely write reviews, but this place deserves it.
I can speak for the Asuadero Tacos (traditional cubed fajita meat). Please be aware, they have a unique cut for the Asuadero (not really cubed), however, it's DELISH; and their charro beans are also very good.
Location: Tucked away in a business complex
