Time to throw in the proverbial towel, folks.
I came in spite of my better judgement, given the quality of both food and service during my previous visit (overcooked ravioli filled with an insistence mush of chicken, spiced with salt, pepper and not much else I could discern).
I walked in the door and every single person on front end staff is standing at the bar. They turn and look at me, saying absolutely nothing.
The wait-person got one fellow's order wrong twice; the calamari was both skimpy and bland; my pulled pork tacos were served on flour tortillas--a classless move in my opinion--and, again, seasoned with nothing in particular other than salt (the meat was well cooked and not dry, I concede), on top of that, these tacos were smothered in microwave melted cheese, iceberg lettuce and tomato chunks; finally, as we were paying our bill, yellowjackets began to appear, on the table, on the chair next to me, on the overhead lights--it's November in Vermont, yes.
The room is nice enough. Walls filled with work by local landscape painters, MJQ and Charlie Parker playing at appropriate background...
Read moreThis is a review of the dinner side of this restaurant- there is a breakfast/coffee shop next door that I have enjoyed as well! I wasn't expecting such a great dinner in such a small town! After moving here with my family and newborn we met friends for dinner. While I don't recommend bringing your 3 month old to dinner 😂, We didn't have much of an option Since we didn't know anyone in the area yet to baby sit. The staff here was incredibly accommodating and kind, and I was surprised to find one of the best cocktails I had had in a little while (very important to me since it was my first in about a year!) we had A delicious appetizer before my husband and I had to make a swift exit due to a screaming babe. The restaurant shifted us easily to a to go situation and we ate our delicious meals at home! The flavors were unique, and the quality...
Read moreMy daughter, Fiona, was married at Hildene in Manchester, Vermont on Sept 30, 2022. Our tasting for the wedding was in March 2022 at the Pangaea restaurant in Bennington, Vt. Pangaea is the vendor Hildene uses for the food at the wedding. We were all blown away at how good the food was at the tasting. I asked, are you going to be able to duplicate this for over two hundred people at the wedding? Nick, the owner of Pangaea, confidently said yes. Not only were they able to duplicate it, but they also hit it out of the park. Our guests said, it was the best food that they ever had at a wedding. Thank you to Nick and his team for helping to make my daughter’s wedding so spectacular. We will be heading to Pangaea again in the...
