Kuboba Spot — Restaurant in Berkeley

i had stopped by kuboba due to a yelp elite event. and though there were some perks due to it being an event for us - i would love to add in my thought on the food and service! stepping in the store felt like a community experience! their staff there were so friendly and welcoming (which is a huge plus going to any business) and their food and drinks are equally as amazing!

definitely, can't wait to come back and try the other empanada flavors :) i think its also super unique how they have both sweet and savory flavors - from my previous experience getting empanadas I've really only encountered savory flavors so seeing how there are sweet ones I'm really excited to try those soon one day!

with so many flavors to choose from i had ask them to recommend some options and ended up with chicken adobo along with spicy curry potatoes w/ pea- both of which were so freaking delicious! i ended up ordering some extra to share with my aunts and uncle and they really loved the flavors too!

for the drink option i had ordered the taro with fresh taro wall - which i really enjoyed as the balance of the sweetness and creaminess were well balanced and paired well with the food i had ordered!

10/10 would recommend this spot!! thank you for having me :)

I left the store today with a heavy heart.

For the SF Fleet Week I organized a hike with my coworkers up the hills of Point Richmond to see the airshow of the Blue Angels, promised them I will be bringing boba drinks for which everyone was excited.

Collected the package of boba, drove to the trailhead, and received a call from the store that they forgot to give me the “popping mango pearls”. I was devastated, had no time to drive back to the store. I went with the hike, did not want to serve the milk tea to my co workers because there were no boba pearls. The essence of a boba drink could not be there, I could have just brought milk from my house fridge.

After the hike I went back to the store to tell them that I decided not to serve the boba drink, suggested if I could just return the package (iced on my cooler) and get some empanadas for the money that I have already paid. The answer was a quick no. They gave me the boba pearls that they forgot to give me before. I left defeated, puzzled what to do with the 10-cup worth of boba drinks.

I am sure they would have tasted good but I did not want to drink them anymore.

If kuboba doesn’t know they have my heart by now. They will after reading this review. Anyone in my community who loves empanadas and boba just as much as I do onto this spot. They have THE BEST TARO DRINK in all of Bay Area. Even better than my other fav boba which is hard to beat. The drinks are full of flavor and the boba toppings are never hard and stale and always taste fresh. Plus Kuboba’s loyalty point system is one of the most generous I’ve seen in the Bay. The pandan drink is yummy too and I love the home made pandan jelly. Not to mention their empanadas are literally the best I’ve ever had in my entire life. The empanadas are so soft and flaky and full of flavors. The cheese cheese burger, pizza and mango cheesecake are my favorites of course. This is the place to beat when it comes to customer service and good boba and good food. I wish the best to the kuboba team and family and look forward to your continued growth in the game.
