I was coincidentally fortunate to attend the grand opening of WrapnRollGrill and I can foretell this restaurant is going to become something special for Berkeley and the East Bay Area. Honestly, maybe even bigger for the Muslim and Pakistani community of East Bay. I don't do food reviews, in fact this is my first one ever, I'm not a foodie, nor am I an influencer. But, I am a Pakistani person thats an East Bay native. So I like to think I have strong merits to claim that; Beyond their DELICIOUS and VERY WELL PRICED FOOD the existence of this simple restaurant serving simple Pakistani dishes is so much more. Let me explain... Wrapnroll grill is a place that exudes love through one main thing. Love through cultural competence. Food is an universal love language and man do the staff members showcase their empathy and understanding of that concept honorably. The staff happily welcomes you and engages in a conversation with you. If you're familiar with Pakistani food, Great! But if not, the staff will guide and share the intricacies of Pakistani food and suggest something that fits you with superb patience be it dietary restrictions, palate preferences, etc(in the ever busy food&service industry of down town Berkeley mind you). You then sit down and enjoy a nice quiet meal (or energetic depending of the vibe I'm sure). But that act of just sitting down and eating their food takes you home. It takes you back to eating with your family and having a simple meal. Or, you were like me who got an old faithful chicken tikka roll and get that feeling of eating a Paratha while you did your homework on the dining table. Needless to say I was taken aback. Providing a quality of food that has the ability to do something like THAT, while staying affordable is an art in itself. We needed something like this, and I'm glad it exists for all of us now. To the staff, Thank you for being that for all of us. To you the reader, you're not taking a risk going here, this is objectively the best decision you can make if you're craving authentic Pakistani food, so just go...
Read moreI wish I took pictures, the Chicken Tikka wraps and rolls are incredibly delicious. Their chicken is good, white meat, fresh, clean, no fat, skin, or bones. I have since moved out of the country and I miss them so! I discovered them while visiting one of the coolest used bookstores in the SF Bay Area and East Bay: Moe's Bookstore is right across the street. Save your appetite, enjoy the bookstore, and then order a wrap and a roll. Best to eat there b/c the yogurt sauce does not curdle and you have tons of access to the yogurt sauce and their lovely spicy sauce. Plus, it is family ran and they're super nice!! Sadly, I've moved out of state and...
Read moreWere walking down Telegraph, popped our heads in and were greeted so warmly by the owner that we had to try it! I had the chicken tikka masala bowl (spice level 8) and my partner had the chicken biryani (spice level 8), we were both super pleased with our food. The food had a lot of flavor and the meat and rice were perfectly cooked. Our daughter couldn’t decide what she wanted so the owner made her a nutella paratha - she enjoyed trying something new and we really appreciated his kindness! It’s also worth mentioning that the prices are great especially considering the flavor and quality of the food. Would definitely eat here again and would...
