Bike parking was great - there was a rack in the square just across the street, so that was super convenient. Not sure what the back story is, but apparently everyone asks for pizza and they don't have any. I thought I saw a pizza burger on the menu though. I've been here several times in the past 6 months. Nice menu of burgers, and the portion sizes are huge. They do have an added fee if you want an extra plate to split your meal with a friend, which seems a little goofy. The wait staff is friendly but a little less attentive than other restaurants. On my last visit I ordered lemonade (just the Minute Maid fountain drink - nothing fancy) and it tasted more like water with a bit of lemon. I asked the staff to check it out and they said they checked the CO2 (for lemonade?) and that they tasted it and it seemed fine (just fine) but when I tasted it, it was even more watery than before - a dining companion agreed. I swapped it out with a Coke and that was ok. I wish they had an outdoor dining option for when the weather is beautiful. On the bright side, everyone seems to want to try it, so it's a great place to bring a group of friends together. I like District 13 in Sunbury better for the flavor. Portion sizes are a little smaller but they have a patio and the price per person was lower.

After reading some of negative reviews, I was hesitant to eat here but I was surprised. The cheeseburger was actually good. I like my burgers well done and I was very pleased that it came out this way despite the patty being so large. It wasn’t dried out. In fact it looked greasy but didn’t taste greasy which was unexpected. We got the Big 3 cheeseburger and we chose the pepper jack, American and cheddar cheese. The fries were big fries and just okay to me. I think I would have liked them if they were fresh and not quite so cooked. They were dry but edible. Something I definitely did not expect was a $2.99 share plate fee. I had never heard of this before. And I hope this isn’t a new thing that restaurants are now starting to do because we often share a big meal at restaurants. Ambiance-to me, it’s more of a bar than a restaurant. We visited during the day on a weekday. I’m not sure what it looks like at night. None of the customers were rude or disorderly. There were five others at the bar. The service was prompt and friendly. The bill was approx $22.00 for one large cheeseburger and fries (no drink). That included the tax and shared plate fee of $2.99.

After several dramatic changes over the last few years new management still hasn't got it quite right here despite some glowing reviews from non gourmets. There was ample parking around the square and a recent much-needed facelift to the exterior make the prospect of my first inviting at first flush. Although certainly not fine dining, the menu was comprehensive and typical of hundreds of similar establishments. Bottom shelf beers in bottles and cans were inexpensive and on - tap beer choices were adequate. The staff were attired in typical Galena finery of multiply slashed jeans and reminded me of the shrill voiced young ladies of St. Trinians who had just won a field hockey match after having beaten their opponents into submission after they themselves had been battered and muddied. One of my party became restless after waiting twenty-five minutes for his hot dog, particularly since thete were only three other diners. My fish dinner was impossible to eat since the fries had so much salt on them I could only wince at eating one and the dry, bland, fish with a batter so hard it could have easily have been used to break into. Brinks truck should have been buried in an unmarked grave without benefit of clergy. I wish this establishment well and any new will always have growing pains but this venue will not attract regular gentlefolk at the moment if my conversations with some other locals are to be believed but it will provide a watering hole for those tired of eating at Lindy's and the Refectory and need lots more salt in...

Friendliness and professionalism matters. I was very excited to visit Son of Thurman. I've been to the downtown location and really enjoyed it. What was a simple misprint turned into "a thing". My wife and I ordered a round of drinks. $8 for a Fat tire and $6 for a blue moon... a little steep, but ok... we can move on and enjoy our first round. I noticed the menu has a 16oz budweiser special for $2.50 all day everyday. I pointed at it and said I'll have one of the budweiser specials... she promptly brought me a bottle of bud... I said, "whoops, I wanted the 16oz draft for 2.50". She said, "you are the first person who has ever ordered one of those in the 6 months I've been here... its a typo, we don't have it"... I said, "oh, I don't want a 12 oz in a bottle...how much is it anyways"... $3.50... hmmm, bummer I said I didn't want it (she already popped the cap). She was nice and said- you can have it for free. This was an ok solution. My wife drank it... but then she ignored us for 15 minutes, we had to ask for service from a nice guy. He took our order, the burger was beautiful and tasty, I ordered a blue moon on draft... but it was very awkward that the original server-bartender ignored us completely the rest of the night and any service we wanted required us to flag someone down. Really wanted to have a nice night out...so bummed this is how...
