Dairy Delite — Restaurant in Berwick

My husband and I have gone here for years. Today I stopped by and asked for a large ice cream with one scoop each of two flavors, something we’ve done every time we’ve gone here in the past. When I requested that today, the employee helping asked the manager how to ring an up charge of two flavors in a large ice cream. The manager said the don’t allow that anymore. When I asked why (since it was previously no problem), I was rudely told, “it’s too much to handle when we’re busy.” Since I was literally the only person in line, I pointed that out and asked for an exception since it was clear they were capable of accommodating and was again flatly and rudely told, “Nope. Can’t do it.” The manager who was so rude to me then claimed it was because the new employee at the register “needs to learn to do things right.” I asked for a creative solution such as two small sizes instead of one large but the cost was ridiculous so there was no work around to the policy. Clearly this manager is more interested in following an arbitrary policy and lording her “power” over employees and patrons than she is in actually providing good customer service at an ICE CREAM STAND. If you can’t bring a smile to someone’s face selling ice cream, you might want to look into another line of work, perhaps one that is not public-facing. Or maybe consider working as a prison guard- her demeanor was more suited to that than...

This place has been a popular fixture in Berwick since I was just a kid. It has had various owners over the past 50-60 years that I have personally stopped by occasionally for a favorite frozen treat. More recently, I have taken advantage of their takeout menu. Their cheeseburger meal and a chocolate frappe are comparable in price to a McDonald's meal, but the hamburger at Dairy Delite actually tastes like real meat with real onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles on top. Also, the frappe had a fresh texture and flavor, much more refreshing than the chemical taste and plastic-like texture of a McDonald's shake. If you're going through downtown Berwick you can't miss it right next door to Kennebunk Savings Bank and within view of the bridge into Somersworth. Oh, I haven't been adventurous enough to try one, but they regularly post some interesting specials on the sign out...

without a doubt the worst place ever. I have been there twice this year the first time I ordered a simple small black raspberry soft serve in a cone, the young girl behind the counter handed me a small coffee/ black raspberry twist... We went again tonight I ordered a small vanilla soft serve in a dish and small black raspberry in a cone.. I recieved the vanilla correctly but the same young girl gave me a small black raspberry in a dish (which is okay) than i asked for a cone and she put two covers on the ice creams... as I was walking to the car i dropped my ice cream. I went up to the counter and told the man that I dropped my ice cream and the young girl made it wrong, the man made me the correct ice cream and charged me another 3.50. I ended up paying close to 15 dollars for two ice creams.. worlds worst place along...
