My daughter was getting married in Sept. 2023. After calling around to caterers and getting $7500-$8500 quotes with an additional fee for plates/silverware etc. Plus tipping 4 servers which is easily another $400-$600+. We looked into food trucks but then you have people waiting in line to order, not all eating together, where to park them, all that stuff. And they're pricey as well. So we decided to do pizza. Now before you get all "Pizza at a wedding??" Let me tell you, this was the BEST decision we made through this whole crazy process!!! We had 140 people and got 30 or so pizzas (4 kinds), maybe 30 subs (4 varieties) and trays of salad. The pizzas were delivered Hot, Fresh and on time! The food came with paper plates, napkins and forks. We did have our own but this could definitely save you even more on your wedding bill! The subs were all cut up into 4's and put on lg trays, covered well with plastic wrap so they just needed uncovering when one was finished. Super easy and convenient! And needed no additional "display". (saves money on lg platters too!) We had those as well but what's the point? The trays they used were perfect!! The salads came with the dressing of choice and in one of those lg. gallon jugs with the pump so it was very easy to keep clean. (Think how messy a bowl and ladle is when scooping dressing! And having to refill it etc. No thanks.) When the food arrived, it was perfect! The hot food was hot, cold stuff was cold and all of it was absolutely delicious! I'm a Villa Pizza fan anyway (thin crust, crispy on the outside, chewy in the middle. Not bready or dry, not stingy with the cheese or toppings. LOVE them) but I was a bit concerned that it might be a different story when making them in mass quantities. But NOPE! They were just as good as when you get a single one. They needed just a few days notice before the wedding which was great just in case we decided to use a caterer. So it allows for last minute decisions. (caterers get super booked up in Sept. and need WAY more time to plan and sort out the complicated details!) This was all as easy as placing a pizza order....a really LARGE one, but just as simple. And you could get anything on the menu (and they have a huge menu!) Even if you did wings or mozz.sticks, you could easily have chafing dishes set up to keep it all hot for hours. And as far as leftovers, well pizza can be frozen so you can take it home and freeze it! So if you're doing ANY kind of event (HS reunion, Celebration of Life, wedding, birthday party etc) THESE are the people to call!! All of the guests raved about the food and not one person thought pizza was a bad idea at a wedding... not after this, anyway. There are no price breaks for large quantities of the pizzas and subs but they do have different pricing for the trays (like salads and apps) so it's just the price on the menu. But it makes it easy to figure out your total. All of this came out to around $1400. To feed 140 people! $10 a head compared to the $40-$75 for a caterer. So we saved $6-$7K. (even more if you do late night snack food) You just can't beat that. Plus there was a lot left over even though everyone ate as much as they wanted. This worked out great for when people needed a snack after drinking (and who doesn't like leftover pizza?) And one more PLUS... as we all know, pizza is in individual boxes so it stays covered up! No bugs or flies on the food (gross) and the box makes it so the lid always gets put back down. Bonus! So Thank you Villa for being SO AWESOME and making this so easy and so delicious! I've been eating here for 20 years and will continue to do so for as long as...
Read moreI'm giving Villa Pizza 1 star even though I enjoy their food, and I'll explain why, I will not order from places like Domino's, Pizza Hut, or any other place that automatically charges you a delivery fee, now, I'm going to explain the reason why, We usually tip delivery drivers anywhere from $5 to $7 each time we place an order, the fact that 90% of the restaurants that deliver in the area in which I live, is less than 2 miles from me, now most places that charge a delivery fee, charge right around $4, so that means each time we order out and have our food delivered to us, we are paying roughly anywhere from $12 to $15 to have our food delivered from a place less than 2 miles from where you may live, anytime I'm ordering from a place that automatically adds a delivery charge to our bill, I will not tip the driver, and out of guilt in not doing so, is the very reason I will not order from places like this, it's the delivery drivers that suffer when these type of restaurants charge you a delivery fee, and to add to that, most of these places do not show on their menus that they charge you a delivery fee, the only way you would ever know you were paying for your delivery, is if you looked at your receipt, which is something that just happened a night or two ago when I checked my receipt from J's Pizzeria, and saw that I had been paying a $4 delivery fee, on top of the $7 that I normally pay the driver, so in delivery fees alone from both the Villa & J's Pizzeria, I have been paying $12 to have my food delivered to me, I think it's fraudulent that they do not put this information on the menu so you know you are paying a fee to have your food delivered, it's just plain deceiving in my opinion, now I'm not a cheap person, but you also have to remember the food tax you're paying, so add the delivery fee, the tip to the driver, and then the food tax, at times, you are spending nearly $20 on delivery fees, tips, and then the food tax, I'm not a cheap person, and I make fairly decent money, but from now on, if I want food from any of these places, I'll drive the average 1.7 miles to any one of these restaurants to pick my food up, before I have any of them...
Read moreI used to order from villa on an extreme level. 4-7 times a week. Within the last year or two their prices have not stopped going up. But their haddock burger was still really good quality wise. And it used to be a nice big piece. Two weeks ago I ordered a chicken bacon ranch calzone and went out of my way to ask for marinara on the side knowing they charge for it. Usually you’ll get two little containers when you ask. They charged me for it but forgot to bring the marinara. No big deal mistakes happen so I call them within minutes of receiving the order and ask politely for the marinara. The owner answered and wanted to argue with me about it and said “I will try to send you some in between deliveries” so I accept without treating him as rude as he treated me. Than an hour later a driver drops off one small container. So I paid for two and only got one after an argument once the calzone went cold. So I swore off villa. Then because there isn’t much option for people in downtown somersworth who don’t drive. I ordered from them again today. I ordered a haddock burger with lettuce tomato and tartar. Usually the piece of haddock is big enough that theirs always a small piece hanging out of the bun. This time I got a piece of haddock that is literally the size of four French fries but shorter. It covers up less than half of the bun. For $10 plus a $4 tip to get this joke of a sandwich is infuriating. So rather than calling and asking them to fix it and getting in an argument. I’m just never going to order from them again. I’ve been a loyal customer for over 20 years. So much for...
