I tried this place after seeing it on TikTok a couple of times. I was tired of eating at the usual local spots that I knew, so I made the 30 minute drive to try them out after all of the great reviews. The gentleman who took my order on the phone was polite, helpful, even said having my food ready when I got there would be no problem. He said 15 minutes, I had read the wait is usually a lot longer. And with it being lunchtime I expected as such. Window seating only, and they were all open. Parking was good for this day’s lunchtime. Food was ready when I got there. The POS asked for a tip even though all they did was hand it through a window. But being that they did have my food ready when I got there I tipped. I did not find anything that I liked to drink there. But they had some interesting choices. I ordered the Berwyn Hot Sandwich with the Punk sauce on the side, fries and tots, two Italian Beef Egg rolls, they are what I would call normal size, and a small mashed potatoes. In the bag was just the food, no napkins, no utensils, no ketchup. I opened the box, and as mentioned in another review, the sandwich is greasy. The bottom bun was soaked and kept leaking on my fingers as I ate the sandwich. I put layers of paper towels, my own, as none were included, under the box so the grease did not leak onto my pants or my truck console. It is an orange grease so you are warned! I tried the egg rolls first, so so, I thought they lacked any real taste. Good crunch though. I did eat both of them. Fortunately I had plasticware in my truck and was able to try the mashed potatoes. Again, IMO, no flavor at all. Maybe if they had included salt and pepper packets I could have saved them. There was a bite or two of coleslaw in the box, it was tasteless as well IMO. The sandwich patty is big, had a good flavor, slightly sweet, although that may have been the bun, and a good crunch. I did run into a part of it that was a thin layer of tough, stringy, almost fibrous pieces that I could not bite through. I ran into that about a two thirds of the way of the sandwich in a couple of places and just stopped eating. I tried to show that in the pictures. The highlights were the tots and fries. They were both good! The Punk sauce is very good as well. If I had known I had to provide my own plasticware, napkins, and ketchup from where I bought my drink, I would not...
Read moreFirst time trying the chicken here. My experience was great, this man has definitely captured the essence of fried chicken. I ordered 2 legs and 1 thigh the dredge is crispy and airy, the chicken was not fried hard which is the best part of it; it was moist and juicy with each bite. The only thing missing for me was a little Mike's hot honey or any honey, overall it was great. The dinner roll is light and cushy, it could use a little bit of butter in my personal opinion to elevate its flavor some but it still has a very great taste on its own. I tried 3 sauces: Mickey sauce, Jala-Mango, and the Gochujang. The Jala-Mango was my overall favorite nice taste all around. The Mickey Sauce is more of an aioli in my opinion, and the gochujang sauce could see a little more work. Overall this place is a must try for fried chicken enthusiasts or lovers. No sides of macaroni or what looked like cole slaw are offered for purchasing individual pieces, but I also did not see an option on the menu for buying them in smaller "personal size" amounts, hopefully the owner can work something out for that. I wanted to try the macaroni salad but did not want to buy a pint to eat in my car on a hot day 😂
A great place for phenomenal fried chicken that puts all the chain restaurants to bed if quality and freshness is...
Read moreIt was my family’s first time eating from Berwyn Chicken Co. We placed an order online and picked up about 10 minutes after the time listed on the email. The order was ready upon pick up. However, when we got home the shrimp & chicken boxes were missing the mild sauce and the lemonade was not in the bag. I called and informed the person on the phone that I was missing the mild sauces and lemonade. While on the phone, the person asked if I was going to come and pick up the sauces or put us down for them. When I walked in the restaurant, who I assume to be the person I was speaking with on the phone was yelling about the issue to the cook in the back. Speaking about the issue in an exaggerated manner as though I was irate when I called. On the phone, I simply let them know that I was missing the mild sauces that should have been included with the order. I asked if he wanted me to bring the bag back in and his attitude quickly changed. I just accepted the sauces and my lemonade and left.
In short - the food lives up to other reviews and overpriced. It’s nothing special as we believed from social media reviews. Customer Services leave much...
