After admirable recommendations from friends and then the "Best of Gaston" awards, we decided to go here for our anniversary. BIG mistake!!! The service was pitiful!!! The first thing we asked for was water - didn't receive it until we encountered someone other than the waitress half-way through a meal of buffalo shrimp and hot wings!!! If you have ever ordered either of these dishes, you know how important beverages can be!
Besides the water, our beverages ran dry half-way through - went to the bar to order more - but no one was there to take the order. Finally, someone other than the waitress came out to help us and water and beverages were provided. There was NO follow-up after we received our food.
When the food was delivered, one of the wings fell off the super-small cardboard box they were crammed into - the waiter caught it and stuck it back into the little box - EWWWW!
We ordered buffalo shrimp and were brought cocktail sauce. Buffalo shrimp do NOT need cocktail sauce - they need ranch or blue cheese dressing - DUH!!! The french fries were the standard crinkle cut fries you can get in the frozen section of any grocery store - HOW BLAND!!! The coleslaw was not eatable and paled in comparison to any slaw we have EVER had!
The manager on duty managed to make his way out to greet the "regulars" sitting next to us, but took little notice of our empty glasses and made no attempt to welcome us or offer any help whatsoever! "Best of Gaston????" Really??? Apparently no one except regulars get the "A" treatment. It was our very first visit on a special occasion and we had hoped to become "regulars" - but we will NOT be back.
The food was good...but did NOT rise above the flavored wings and buffalo shrimp available elsewhere in Gaston County. This was a HUGE disappointment on what should have been a special day - our 12th anniversary and I picked a highly recommended place only to disappoint my wife and myself. I can only imagine that everyone in Bessemer City voted on the "Best of Gaston" and no one else in the county really cared to vote.
We recently move here from Asheville and when people vote on "Best Of" you can be guaranteed that you WILL get the "BEST OF." So very sorry that the same is NOT...
Read moreRegular customer for over 10 years. I ordered a bologna sandwich last night around 9pm (which is my usual go to meal). For whatever reason the bologna was clearly burnt up bad. After one bite I just could not take another. I informed the Bartender(Vinnie) where she gladly helped me as I am never the one to complain. She looked at the sandwich to which she agreed it was over cooked and took it back into the kitchen. 5-10 mins later the Manager On Duty(Matt) came out the kitchen door and asked me “what’s up”. Confused and thinking he was just acknowledging my presence as I come nearly everyday..I replied back “What’s up man”. A couple of awkward seconds went by where he just stares at me. Realizing he was wanting something more than a friendly acknowledgement I asked him again.. “what’s up man?” He then asks me if there was something wrong with my food. I informed him of my incident with the bologna sandwich and stated I just needed another one made for me. The then proceeds to tell me… “You know you’re not welcome here right?” Absolutely astonished in the what he just said to me, I asked him what I had done to not be welcome at his bar? He could not tell me what I did but could only say that I was not welcome anymore. Me being a manager of another business I could not believe the way he was treating a long time returning customer. Disgusted, I asked Vinnie to tab me out. Matt said “that’s cool”, turned around, and went back into the kitchen. I paid Vinnie and left. I honestly hate leaving such a bad review like this on a place I like so much. Nevertheless I will not be returning and neither will my friends or family. I hope the highly respected Owners can take a deep dive into this and get to the bottom of what happened yesterday evening with this horrible customer service interaction I dealt...
Read moreBEWARE - Been here a few times now. Food is gross. Service is nonexistent. Attitudes suck. The only reason we went back was that friends were going here so we figured we would try again. Terrible experience each time. Terrible experience this time. I would leave 0 stars if that were an option. We sat down yesterday and didn’t even get acknowledged. I had to go get a menu myself and ask multiple times for service. Then when the food came, two people at our table didn’t get their food. Two more didn’t get all that they ordered. When I asked our server about it they said the kitchen was behind and then still took forever. The server literally brought one of the items to the table after everyone was done and ready to leave. The other two got their items in a to-go box at the end while we were leaving. My grilled shrimp was fishy, spongy and cold. I had to ask for cocktail sauce three times and finally got up and went to the kitchen myself to get it. Then discovered it was ketchup with a tiny amount of horseradish in it. At this point we were all laughing about it but it’s not funny. It’s sad.
On a previous visit a waitress sprayed all of us with bug spray while we were eating. It got into my eyes and sinuses and a few other at my table. When we asked her to stop, she kept spraying saying the manager told her to keep the outdoor area sprayed. The waitress was moody and had an attitude when confronted and the manager wasn’t much better.
I wouldn’t eat here again if you paid me and gave out free beer. Trust me when I tell you, go somewhere that actually cares about its customers,...
