Burnt Beyond Recognition BBQ Got these ribs this evening, they were inedible. Bought full rack with two sides and a large smoked cashew. Nothing was to our satisfaction. The ribs were burnt and inedible, the corn had no flavor and tasted watery (frozen corn) and the Cole slaw tasted like it came from Sysco and the cashew had a very unpleasant finish to them. I drove 20 minutes to return the ribs. The person working the window showed no remorse and said that most people like them cooked that way. I asked if she had any with less crust and was told no. I am amazed that the people working there think this is an acceptable dish to serve. Was given a partial refund, but still feel very unsatisfied by both the horrible food and the callous attitude of the staff. The truck refused to credit my card for the return and insisted on giving me cash, that is not how I wanted to be reimbursed but no cares from the server. I am sure they will not miss my future business, but they should be ashamed to call themselves a BBQ joint serving such food and then trying to defend it. It's unfortunate because I was told by many people on social media to go with the ribs. Believe me, I don't have a problem letting them all know about my bad experience.

Terrific local BBQ in Bethel, Maine. We drove by several times and the smoker was always going early in the morning and late into the evening. For our first time there, we ordered the 6-Pack to Go, which is billed as two pounds of pork, 6 rolls, large coleslaw, pickles and sauce. For our family of four, we added four orders of cornbread and asked if they could split the order into one pound each of pulled pork and pulled chicken so that we could taste both. They were happy to hear that we wanted to try both and did not miss a beat. We also tried their hot smoked cashews. Everything was delicious and our take-out was ready within minutes after placing our order. This place is definitely worth a stop or even a drive out of your way.

Our traveling companions are Texans who know how to smoke a brisket, pulled pork, and chicken. I do a pretty good job myself, but we are always looking for something better, more tender any maybe sweeter. Maybe its just me, but this is nothing like Texas barbeque. The sauce tastes like flavored ketchup. The brisket should be sliced across the grain and no thicker than a quarter inch- not chunks. All the meat was slightly dry, maybe try low and slow smoking. The hot link was good with a nice heat chaser. The mac n cheese is excellent and the slaw has a deliciously unique flavor, maybe apple cidar vinegar? The corn bread is unremarkable. We ordered the 4 meat sampler for $19.95 and had enough meat to feed 4 adults.

I have been eyeing this place since last year, and I finally stopped here to try it a few weeks ago. I am a big fan of supporting local businesses, too, so I was excited to see what this place is all about. And I do not want this review to hurt this business, but as a customer who was quite disappointed with the food, I think it's important to be candid about my experience there. Here is what I ordered and my review for each:

Brisket - As a native Texan, I am a strict judge of brisket, but I also know that there are many ways to cook it and I manage expectations accordingly. This cut was served shredded; unfortunately it was almost entirely fat. By the time I got home, the meat was sitting in a mess of congealed fat and it really wasn't very appetizing.

Ribs - Simply put, they were overcooked. I expect a little char on the ends, but these were burnt and the meat all dried out until you got to the larger bones. Not sure if it was cooked too. long or too hot, but it wasn't right.

Spicy Sausage - Mildly spiced, but more heat than flavor.

Corn bread - Bland and more mushy than moist, like the consistency of pineapple cake. Jiffy mix would have been preferable.

Beans - Very sweet, and clearly had been sitting in a warmer for a long time. I can't speculate how long, but they were no longer saucy, had about the same consistency as potato salad.

Buffalo pasta - This was the best of the lot. By that I mean it wasn't bad.

I really hope I caught these guys on a bad day, which happens. I can name several restaurants that I did not like on my first visit, and would later try again and be extremely pleased. At some point, I may come back. I felt it was reasonably priced if the product was better, and the proprietors were very friendly and fast in their service.

One final note - They take Credit Cards, but not Apple Pay, which several in my group wanted to use. I honestly can't fault them for this, since I don't...

Been going here for years it's always been delicious. We just got done off 5 hour road trip. Very hungry. Very disappointed the food was less than desirable like never before. Everything was completely burnt dry old and made us very ill heartburn overpriced it was just an awful experience will never go back again I've been coming up to Sunday River for over 15 years and I've always stop there and never had a problem. I should have taken pictures of the food the beans were dry 2 tablespoons of beans coleslaw wasn't the same. The ribs in the chicken or black I don't mean lately chard I mean black. I can't believe how anybody could take pride in serving something like that. We were going to eat it there but the bugs were so bad we decided to take it to our room. We should have checked it before we left cuz we definitely would have gave it back 35 bucks down the drain. They...
