Chubby's Cafe — Restaurant in Big Bend

We waited over an hour to get our food which ended up being wrong from a new server, we believe. The other servers were rude and very unhelpful even when I went up to the bar to just get a cup of coffee. After we waited another 15 minutes for our food to get fixed our server sat in the serving pass instead of coming to our table or anyone else’s to help them or see what anyone needed. Our eggs were correct but the toast was cold and sausage was still ice cold, after getting everything else fixed and getting our missing items. Our bill was wrong and we had to have it corrected but that was the only thing that was cared about. After my family walked out at the end I stayed behind to talk to the staff since I’ve been working in restaurants for 8 years and have college degrees in hospitality management. They continued to come up with excuses about how they only had four servers on for the day, which is more than enough for that small location, and telling me that there is no owner or manager at the location for weeks which doesn’t make any sense because someone has to be there to run the business. I firmly believe that it doesn’t matter who the costumer is, if the food or the service is wrong and it’s brought to your attention multiple times it should be corrected instead of giving the costumers excuses through out the service with a very rude and mean attitude. I always give every restaurant a fighting chance because something can always go wrong but I will not go back there and highly recommend people not to go to this restaurant due to the way the staff treats their customers. I used to come to Chubby's in Big Bend every day for breakfast, but with a change in my schedule, I now only make it in on weekends. The food was always good, and I enjoyed being a regular. However, my recent experiences have left a lot to be desired.

A couple of visits ago, I came in with my wife. To my surprise, the waitress started making inappropriate and completely false comments, saying I had previously mentioned being single and had even asked for her phone number. Neither of those statements is remotely true. When my wife, understandably, was upset, the waitress brushed it off as a "joke." This so-called "joke" completely ruined breakfast for both of us and cast a shadow over what should have been an enjoyable morning.

Then, today, I decided to give it another shot. But despite waiting for over five minutes, I wasn't even acknowledged by the staff. Not a single person came by to fill my coffee or take my order. It was like I was invisible, despite having been a regular customer for quite some time.

Given the lack of professionalism and respect, I won’t be returning to Chubby’s again. It’s disappointing to see how quickly things can turn for the worse in a place that used to feel...

I have never had a bad breakfast until now. Grandma's skillet was mush. Supposed hash browns were like wet mashed potatoes. Waitress was pleasant until I showed her the skillet. I only ate the pancake that came with my order and about 2/3rds of the eggs. You would have thought she could say, I am sorry, let me adjust your bill or something. Just a deer in the headlights look. No response. I suggested she tell the cook. It was, "well have a great day". The cashier/host had no communication skills whatsoever. No hello, how was your food, thank you, nothing. People were waiting to sit at empty tables and he couldn't handle it.
