I was on my way through and since I had heard so much about this place, decided to drop by. I was greeted at the door by some friendly patrons. The place was larger than it appeared from outside, and well-decorated.
The special was "Surf and Turf," and it seemed like the thing to do. Coupled with an order of chicken gizzards, I was prepared for a feast. What I got was more than I expected. The gizzards were hot, I felt that they could have stood about 20 seconds less in the oil, but they were very good. I would return for those alone. The beans were good! They were not canned, so had a fresher taste to them. The shrimp were good, perfectly cooked, and the ribeye was of the same kind that would be used on a sandwich, so thin and a little tougher than one would expect in a ribeye. It was however, cooked exactly as I asked. I could taste a spice that definitely made the steak different, but still good. Service was excellent. The waitress was good, friendly, and introduced herself as owner. You could tell that there was a sense of pride in everything done here,...

I was meandering my way through Kansas and decided to look for a place to get a good steak. Google Maps steered me to this place and I'm so glad it did.
The service is excellent. The folks here are VERY friendly and I really enjoyed talking to the server/bartender, and the gal I found out later was one of the owners.
The steak was excellent. The steak was well marbled, cooked to perfection (medium rare) and perfect seasoned. I couldn't tell you what I thought about the sides, my focus was on that beautiful ribeye.
The prices were excellent. Coming from a metro area, a steak of this quality at this price is unheard of.
This place is out of the way, but I will make a point of stopping here any time I can fit it in to my travels. It's definitely worth driving a few extra hours for that...
Read moreDrove 150+ miles to celebrate a friend's birthday. Big Ed's did not disappoint! We both had the same thought when we walked in. The atmosphere? Wall to wall people enjoying their dinner! Once we exclaimed Ober the beauty and aroma of our plates and took our first bites, we said nothing for several minutes as we were too busy eating. Mere words can not express... but I'll just say... Our prime rib was seasoned to absolute kiss kiss muah (my tongue accidentally slapped my forehead and i think i heard angels) and cooked to perfection! The sides are pretty basic (you don't go to Big Ed's for the sides) and flavored just right to accent the delicious beef. The servers were super friendly, and drinks were ice cold and refreshing. Going...
