Simply the worst service I’ve had in my life (not hyperbole.) I think I’m finally done with Back Forty. Since COVID, it has become increasingly rare to spend time at a brewery/restaurant with my family. This evening was ruined by the rudeness of one of the employees who happened to take my food and drink order. I was wearing a mask inside due to the prevalence of the delta variant in Birmingham. The employee became frustrated when I was ordering, turning his digital register away from me and shouting that he couldn’t hear a word I was saying; even though, I was yelling my order under my mask.

I ordered a 32oz growler and an additional pint. The employee took an exceedingly long time filling the bottle with the wrong type of beer. Later, I realized he charged us the wrong amount for the growler. I returned later to refill the growler that my wife and I had finished. I happened to have the same employee when placing this second order. The employee became confrontational when I asked to have the growler refilled. His reaction was so excessive that I honestly thought he was joking and I started to laugh. He insisted that he told me when I ordered the growler to not open the bottle on site - he told me no such thing, nor is this policy stated anywhere in writing. When I said as much, he became more irritated. His communication was ridiculous, over the top and completely out of line. In all, we ended up spending around 100.00 for food and drinks - not worth it at all!!!!!

I told the employee that he had a serious problem then I talked to the manager. The manager was helpful and offered to give us pints of beer, but would not refill the growler. Apparently, refilling the growler after it has been consumed on site, is a health code issue? I’m fine with that reasoning and understand their reluctance, however this does not justify the behavior of the employee serving me. Simply put, the bro culture at Back Forty is awful and this particular employee should be fired.

If you enjoy an ultra white, Fox News, anti-vax, virus skeptical vibe with anti-mask, bro culture, and super spreader excitement with a family friendly outdoor area, Back Forty is for you!!!! Food is meh,...

First time here. The outside was nice with the lighting but it sucks there's a train loading and unloading area right next door. Nothing the business can handle but just the fact it's there and hard to talk to your party while they are unhooking and crossing the street blaring horns and all. Other than the train noise, the outside was nice and cozy.

The service was ok. They basically just take your order and give you a buzzer for when it's ready. They were nice people, not rude so that was cool. When your food is done, it's just sitting on the counter where you toss the buzzer in a basket. No real interaction with staff after that. The one member on the end was nice and friendly when I asked for ranch they forgot to give me for my order.

The food was not bad but not great, more pedestrian if I have to say. The pizza was basically little sauce and little to no cheese as you see in the photo. Not really a lot of flavor other than the pepperoni (some were spicy lol).

The burger was pretty small and over done. Asked for medium, came out well done. Asked for onion, got a few thin slices. Asked for other sauces, it was little to none and soaked up into the bun. Fries were not bad, typical shoe string fries.

Was a little pricy for the quality we got, not worth it honestly. Not pooing on them but I'd pick another place before here again if this is how...

Updated March 2022 Wow this place is really busy. Im happy to see a successful business. We went on a sunny Saturday and found the beer line about 20 minutes long. A little long for me. We also had lunch here and they have curated some good choices. The grilled chicken sandwich was delicious and HUGE. French fries were perfect, crispy, salty and perfectly cooked they complimented my sandwich. The grilled catfish sandwich is rumored to be good as well. If youre in town, and like good beer I would definitely recommend a visit to this place. I will certainly be going back! Urban Cowgill March 2022

We dropped in on a Friday afternoon and found Back Forty very laid back. The facility just opened in July 2018 and it still sparkles. Service was good and they also have tasty food for good beer. Their selection of brews is is not large but how many do you really need? They had pale ales and double IPAs. I spoke with the beertender and she said they change up the beers frequently. We had the naked pig pale ale which was delicious. We also tasted about six others to make our selection. Try the fried to order chili lime skins! Perfect with a brew.

The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Bathrooms were clean and functional. We will likely be back!!
