Two years ago, my fiancé and I took an incredible cross-country road trip. As part of our adventure, we made it a mission to seek out and grade local bakeries. We sampled and compared cheese danishes and customer service in about 20 different cities—from Alabama to Wyoming, Utah, Texas, and Mississippi. Some bakeries were quite good… and some were downright awful. Who knew that two years later, we’d find the best one — hands down — right here in Alabama? Not only was the customer service at Hello Bakery exemplary, engaging, and genuinely friendly, but the cheese danishes (and the other pastries I sampled) were absolutely phenomenal. The baker and his partner have been honing their craft for 28 years, and their shop, nestled between Crestview South and Mountain Brook, has been serving the community for just over two years. The folk-art-decorated bakery has clearly found its audience — even at 8:30 in the morning, the traffic was steady. And those cheese danishes? Incredible. Some places get the bread right, others nail the custard, but rarely do both shine. Here, the croissant-like bread is buttery and delicately layered without being overly sweet. The custard is rich, creamy, and flavorful — not cloyingly sugary, which is often used to mask mediocrity. I can’t recommend them highly enough. Solid 10 out of 10. Net Promoter Score: off the charts.

The owner was a sweetheart & was chatting with his mama when I walked in. I love family run businesses! It's a cozy little place tucked away in the middle of a neighborhood in a random strip mall. The cinnamon roll is made with a laminated dough (like croissants), so that's why it's flat. But it's SO good - flaky, chewy, buttery & just sweet enough. I also had the cookies & cream ice cream. If you're used to artificial flavors & corn syrup overload you will be disappointed. They had caramel cake that I'll definitely need to try next time, but I've got enough thickness in these thighs. They are also military friendly. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in town.

Let me just start off by saying, what an amazing bakery. I love pastries so much so I got a cream cheese Danish, an apple cream cheese Danish, and a cinnamon roll because I always love a good cinnamon roll. This is by far one of the best cream cheese danishes I've ever had in my life. I would have never thought to add apple filling to the cream cheese Danish, but it works perfectly and is so amazing! almost like a apple pie cheesecake...so so divine! thank you so much for your wonderful pastries and I will definitely be back soon! :)

If you are a Birmingham native, you may remember one of the best Chinese restaurants we had here called Joy Young. As a child, I spent many evenings there with my family feasting on wonderful food. However, my absolute favorite menu item was their homemade almond cookie. Well, if you too loved them then don't walk but run to Hello Bakery for their perfect rendition!

This week I sampled a variety of Mr. Miree's bakery items. All were incredibly delicious - bursting with flavor plus clearly crafted out of love and high quality ingredients. The highlight for me though was his amazing almond cookie. The texture, amount of almond flavor, sweet and salty combination with roasted almonds on top? Perfection. Every bite of yummy goodness brought back warm nostalgia from those beloved Joy Young days.

Hello Bakery is a long awaited, welcome addition to this area of town and I'll soon be back for more! My only concern is knowing how this new discovery might impact my...

I stopped by Hello Bakery and was blown away by their delicious croissants—but what really stood out was the owner's kindness! I bought four pastries, and to my surprise, they gifted me a free almond croissant! 😍

Croissant Quality: The croissants here are perfectly flaky, buttery, and freshly baked. The plain croissant had a crisp exterior with soft, airy layers inside, while the almond croissant (my free treat!) was rich, slightly sweet, and packed with crunchy almond goodness. Absolutely delicious!

Customer Service: The owner was warm and welcoming, and the free croissant was such a lovely gesture. It’s rare to find a bakery that cares so much about making customers happy!

Final Thoughts: If you want top-tier croissants and a bakery that goes above and beyond, Hello Bakery is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back—maybe they’ll surprise me again! 😉 Highly...
